We spend five nights at Terrasses d´Atlas and enjoyed it a lot. Luc and Hafida are great hosts and know everything about the valley. Hamid, the guide, took us out to wonderful dayhikes in the mountains and in the evening, we enjoyed Hafida’s delicious home-made food. This beautiful green valley is far away from the usual tourist routes and a great chance to experience authentic berber life. The views from our room and the balcony are gorgeous… we hope to come back soon! Sven+Henrik
We had a wonderful stay chez Luc and Hafida in early March. Lovely, peaceful spot, with great view over the argan strewn foothills of the High Atlas. Friendly, family-run accommodation, excellent food, we felt very welcome. Bed was comfy and room very clean. Nice veranda area with hammock to take a siesta. Beautiful walks through surrounding olive groves, barley fields and local villages up to the Aoulime waterfalls at 2,100m. And the hammam at the end of our last day's (big) trek felt so relaxing and cleansing afterwards. Recommended 100%.
This typical berber house is located in the Southern Atlas mountains, with impressive hikes at the doorstep. The very warm welcome by the hosts, Luc and Hafida, will make you feel like at home. They explain about life in a berber village and provide helpful advise for hikes and on how to discover the region. Luc is happy to design a tailor-made hiking program corresponding to the guests' wishes.
We went on 2 day hikes and both were impressive in terms of landscape and views.
We had dinner and enjoyed delicious local cuisine.
The rooms are very spacious and equipped with air conditioning / heating. Our room also had large balcony with a great view across the valley and the mountains.
Looking forward to the next opportunity to stay at the Terrasses de l'Atlas!!
We spent four nights at Les Terrasses de l'Atlas in October 2017. It's a very special place, a lovely renovated traditional Berber house in the village of Afensou, which is itself nestled in the foothills of the western High Atlas Mountains. Luc, the owner, picked us up from Taroudant, and at the end of our stay arranged a grand taxi back to the Sous Valley. From there we caught another grand taxi to Agadir, an hour away on the coast.
Our room was very comfy, and enjoyed gorgeous views towards the mountains, plus a hammock for relaxing! In the mornings we went for walks up different nearby valleys - Luc drove us to starting points in his 4x4 and later collected us at the top of the tracks.
Evening activities included helping to prepare delicious Berber food, and music provided by local Berber drummers.
What was probably the highlight of our stay was walking with Hafida (Luc's wife) and their daughter through the nearby villages and along the river bed in the late afternoon. This is the way to see the locals going about their various activities, and there is much more going on than you would realise from looking out over the tranquil vistas from the guest house.
My friends and I stayed here for the first 2 nights of a two-week trek into the south of Morocco. The room was very comfortable with all the amenities and the food prepared both by Luc and his lovely wife, Hafida, was delicious. Found in the Atlas mountains, this home-life setting might be difficult to find but is certainly worth the detour.
