Stayed at Sanawar Nature Camp with family. Nice place to stay with different setups (tents and huts) for different requirements. We have got a family hut with two room setup. Food is the highlight, very homely and tasty food. Nice activities for kids and adults, kids enjoyed a lot.
As I've mentioned in my title above, poor maintenance of a beautiful camp, this was the best one liner I could have used to define this property.
The main issue is their poor maintenance, the interiors of the camps are really very dirty n unclean with lots of stain marks, bad smell and not cleaned properly after every check out. The linens n towels etc they provide are also in very poor condition and dirty. There's no hot water in the bathrooms, you can get it yourself from a solar heater nearby in a bucket.
Staff were nice but the management seemed to be rigid as I checked in around 7pm in the evening and the camps were totally unoccupied and were not even booked for the next day still they denied us late check out till 5pm and we were made to check out at 1pm.
It's undoubtedly a nice property with about 15 tents and cottages, a huge green area on the hills with a beautiful view at a beautiful location very close to kasauli, solan, Barog area on the way to Shimla just about 2km from the Shimla highway towards kasauli.
The tents and cottages are also nice with attached bathrooms, has a nice hill view with lots of open space to enjoy a couple of days relaxing and living peacefully. They have enough parking also.
I just stayed for a night and couldn't sleep at all because of bad smell which they said to be of pesticides to keep insects etc away.
It does have a restaurant too. They don't have any room service so whatever you want you have to, go to the restaurant and eat or drink. Also, there are many eateries around this place within 2km distance.
Their pricing is about 1800 for tents and 3000 for cottages just for accommodation.
I recently visited this place with a different picture in mind. The only plus point about this place is its location. Donot expect anything from this place in terms of services or hygiene. The rooms are very shabby. It seems it hasnt been cleaned for a long time with food stains and dust all over. The bathroom door in the room in which i was staying was broken leaving me with no privacy. The mug was also broken. Despite of so many reminders the staff was too lazy to provide with a hot bucket of water. We ourselves had to get it. Very lazy and unfriendly staff. The adventure sports that they offer is not at all up to the mark as it appears appealing on its website. I had gone their to enjoy the nature in peace but there was this huge group of students who were constantly making noises and shouting. A big disappointment for me.
I went with my friends during summer but when we reached kasauli it started raining and wind became chilly. We intially booked a tent but due to cold weather we switched to wooden hut. It was nice and cozy with well maintained wash room which we normally dont expect at camp areas.
View was awesome. Morning hike was refreshing and detour to graveyard was a completly new experience. Our guide was very helpful. Zipping and rope walking were gud adventure activities for an amateur like me.
In night we enjoyee Bonfire and DJ.
My wife, Son (Sahibjeet) and I reached at Sanawar nature camp in last week of October 2015 to meet the nature and we really enjoyed. There were mainly two types of accommodations, one Swiss tents and another cottages. Both were well cleaned and sufficiently equipped. No TV in any accommodation which also pushes everyone towards nature.
Some adventure activities also included in room rent. Valley view deluxe cottage is preferable.
Cool, calm and peaceful spot to meet the nature.
