Stayed at this hostel in central Wilhelmina, Sweden for one night. Friendly check in at the nearby tourist information office. Large bedroom - slept like a log - with attached living room / combined kitchen. Airy accomodation. Historically correct wallpaper. You feel like you are in a museum, and in a way that is exactly what you are.
Highly recommended. WiFi not quite up to scratch, but who. cares ? The creaky floors tell you that ghosts are about. So enjoy it.
Great experience! The service was impeccable! Ladies from the tourism office were lovely, knowledgeable, helpful and very responsive to all of my questions. The hostel is clean, comfortable and good value for money. I rented a single room that had kitchen, bedroom and a toilet (I also rented towels and linens). Wifi password is provided in tourism office, as well as the key to laundry room. Also, it's only 5min from the Vilhelmina center.I would definitely recommend this place.
The STF hostel in Vilhelmina is much more than your average hostel. We stayed in a beautiful apartment. It was very clean. It was also very large, with spacious double bedroom, and kitchen / dining / seating area. The decor is all very traditional and tasteful. We chose to have breakfast, which was served in a nearby hotel. All in all a fantastic place to stay.
The hostel at Vilhelmina is made up of converted cottages that used to make up the 'church town' or Krykstad. These were built in the 19th century to accommodate people from outlying villages when they came to town for church festivals, weddings, funerals etc
There are two or three rows of these houses on a hill just outside town centre. Our house was split up into four apartments, two downstairs, two upstairs. We had a downstairs apartment for one night - living room with cooker, fridge, sink, bedroom with two twin beds, bathroom with shower. Very clean but basic.
Reception for the hostel is in the tourist office just down the hill. We booked with booking.com (not direct with STF the hostel organisation as we did for other locations on this trip) and they gave address of reception but not that it was in the tourist office. It would have helped if it had done so.
Our only complaint was that there is no sound insulation between downstairs and upstairs. The people upstairs came in very late (about 00:30) and made a terrific noise, scraping furniture, stomping around, television on etc etc. This seriously distrubed our sleep.
