We visited Tayport for a family Christening and needed a base for 2 days.
We are so glad we chose Kirkton Barns! James and his father Rory are outstanding hosts, delivering the epitome of Scottish Hospitality.
Their home is beautiful, a true gem. We stayed in the family room (spread across two floors), which had everything you needed and more, including but not limited to microwave, fridge and hob, along with the obligatory tea and coffee making facilities. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, the shower hot and the towels fluffy.
Breakfast was a wonderful affair! You eat in the stunning dining room, with all guests gathered around one lovely big table. With guests from what felt like every corner of the world, conversation was really interesting! The spread was impressive and the cooked options delightful - good quality ingredients, cooked well. Whilst not intended to be a test, James passed with flying colours, cooking deliciously perfect scrambled eggs for me and poached for my husband.
Our daughter, age 11, just adored the whole experience and was over the moon to be introduced to the four legged members of the family, Cocoa, Shadow and Gertie ( as was I to be honest!). Please do be assured that if animals are not your cup of tea, I don't suppose you would even know they are there (my daughter and I sought them out!)
It's been a long time since I have taken the time to write such a long review, but on this occasion, nothing less will do.
If you are looking for an anonymous chain hotel, this is not the place for you. But if you want a warm welcome, a comfy bed and a hearty breakfast in the most lovely of surroundings, you'll love it!
