We booked a family room for 3 nights. The room is very spacious for compared to other hotels in city centers. It's a great alternative if you want to have bigger room with cheaper price. It's clean, nicely decorated, and have all the basic amenities. Breakfast was also pretty good, but maybe can add more fruit options.

The hotel is located in Meggen, it's technically outside of Lucerne but it's only 10 minutes bus ride to Lucerne station/city center. You will get a pass to enjoy free transport and discounted price for some attractions. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

The only thing is it doesn't have a lift , but the staff can help you to carry your luggage.

Liked: Clean, good-sized room with a lake view. All amenities you'd expect for the hotel category. I was given a pass for public transport for the duration of my stay. Good breakfast buffet. Staff very friendly.

Didn't like as much: WiFi not that great. Breakfast lacked vegetables and fruit.

Spotlessly clean, great layout, very comfortable, European comforter on bed: we loved everything about our room and the hotel. City bus passes included for three days. 15 minute ride to Lucerne Center. Why drive? We had dinner in Bistro one night. Wonderful surprises. The Beef Cheeks were the best I have ever enjoyed. You have to check out Balm as an option.

We stayed here in a family room for three nights and ate at the hotel each night. All the staff without exception were very friendly and helpful. The room we had was ideal for us having almost two rooms, it was clean and the beds were very comfortable ( pillows a bit flat tho!) the view is superb and the bistro and restaurant served extremely good food.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would look forward to visiting again.

The Balm hotel is a great family run hotel just on the outskirts of Lucerne. Room & bathroom adequate, all toiletries provided, and both very clean. What makes the stay is the very pleasant and enthusiastic young man who runs the front desk, and a vary good breakfast menu. Will stay there again should the opportunity arise.
