We arrived here in mid-afternoon after an extremely hot trek on the Camino. The kind and friendly owner took it upon himself to carry our bags up the steep stairs to our bedroom. This was small but adequate, as was the double bed. The bathroom facilities were fine, and the bedroom window opened onto the Plaza Mayor, the town’s central square for dining and socialising. But it was so hot outside we kept the shutters over for coolness most of the time.
At €50 for two people, this was good value. The dining room was closed on our visit but we dined and breakfasted al fresco nearby at one the square’s restaurants and went on our way well satisfied.
The hotel has a great location but there were many flaws and if i were to return, i would stay somewhere else. Here are the reasons why:
1) no lift
2) no air con or ceiling fan
3) our room is very small
3) I was bitten by some insect - could be bed bugs or something - and hardly sleep through the night :(
I stayed here while walking the Camino de Santiago. Just my luck--I came here on May 1 and saw the May Day performance in the square just steps away from this hotel.
The staff is super friendly here, not just polite in the standard professional way, but really nice. For example, the woman who oversaw the buffet breakfast noticed I didn't drink coffee and asked if it was because I was lactose-intolerant. (I am.) She brought out lactose-free milk and made me a latte.
My room was clean and well-decorated, with a pleasant bathroom. Ahh, a hot bath! The price was incredible for this experience--35 Euros.
There was a TV in my room, too.
I slept here for one night doing the Camino de Santiago. The strong points are the spotlessly clean room, the location right on the main square of Villafranca (..no need to walk after having done 23 k) and the friendly reception. The WiFi signals are ok. However, the room I got was minuscule, and the price was a little more than I have paid elsewhere on the Camino. Recommended for the pilgrim who prefers his own room.
We stayed at this hotel for one night while walking the Camino de Santiago. It is a basic hotel - listed as a 1 star hotel, so we didn't expect a lot in the way of service. Our room was basic and clean. The staff was welcoming. The location of the hotel is great - right on the square with several restaurants within a few meters of the front door. We had a couple of plugs in the room to recharge our phones. Wifi was available downstairs, but didn't reach the 2nd floor rooms, which was ok. The bar in front of the hotel also had wifi.
