From Coleraine to Magilligan, we took the short ferry crossing to Greencastle, costing 16 Euros return. On arrival at Ballyboes we were welcomed by the hosts Carol and Neil and offered tea. We were shown to our room, the ground floor twin room. It is just exactly as pictured on booking.com and Ballyboes.com website. We were shown the beautiful front lounge and was told to make use of it. Greencastle golf course is just over the road. Now here's the best thing about Ballyboes. It is Carols own granola recipe, which she puts a lot of time and effort in to! Yogurt and fresh fruit sprinkled with granola, I had to have a second helping. It is so different from supermarket granola. Ballyboes is immaculately clean and comfortable and beautifully furnished to a very high spec.
We stayed at Ballyboes with friends for a long weekend. This was the first time for all of us but hopefully won't be the last.
Well - where can we start!!!!! The photos on the websites made the B&B look lovely, but they do not show the house and hospitality in its full glory.
The house itself is stunning, with beautiful furniture, all set in amazing well kept grounds. The large bedrooms were spotless with very comfortable beds and lovely views over the gardens towards the Lough Foyle.
The guest's lounge was lovely and relaxing to sit beside the open fire with a cup of tea and home made cake.
The breakfast was really good with fresh local produce that was the best we have had for a long time including the really tasty granola that was home made by Carol.
Although the Bed and Breakfast was fantastic, what really makes Ballyboes stand out are Carol and Neil who are the most friendliest and hospitable B&B owners/hosts we have ever met.
Nothing was too much trouble for them and they went out of their way to make sure your stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
From the the home made cakes on arrival (and each day), to the helpful advice of where to visit, to the best places to eat and drink and also offering to drive us there so we could have a drink if we wanted and also the little touches throughout our stay - it is these little extras that make a big impression and make you feel special and not want to leave.
Carol and Neil have only had the B&B open for a few months now but with their lovely approach to how they treat their guests I can see them being very very successful (and I just hope they still have space for us when we want to visit again next time)
We had a really lovely stay in Carol and Neil's B&B from the very minute they greeted us at the door we felt truly welcome to share their amazing house.
Our deluxe double room was as good if not better than any hotel I have stayed in anywhere. Spotlessly clean throughout and beautifully furnished it is a credit to their hard work.
We slept really well..unusual for us on a first nights but the beds were so comfy. Excellent breakfast..eggs and smoked salmon to die for:)
I could go on but book and experience this gem for yourselves...oh and yes the views..wow!
Unfortunately I was only able to spend one night in this beautiful home. I wish I could have stayed longer. The house is spectacular. My room was so luxurious and had a great view. I had the best night's sleep! The hosts were very welcoming and I felt truly spoilt. Breakfast was top quality and so tasty. Top tip: have some of Carol's home made granola. I would highly recommend staying at this B&B.
Stayed here recently and had a fantastic time. The area is beautiful and close to the beach and golf course.
The hosts, Carol and Neil, went out of there way to make us feel welcome and well fed!
Everything about this stay was first class. The room was lovely and bed so comfortable.
looking forward to going back!
