We stayed at the Plaine as a stopover on our way back to Heathrow from Wales. The Farleigh room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped, with a large king bed, very functional shower and huge bath towels. Despite warnings that it wouldn't be strong, the wifi worked fine. My only complaint was that for my taste, the mattress was a little hard, although my husband found it fine.
The Plaine is located next to the lovely and friendly Fleur de Lys pub, and across from the impressive 700-year old George Inn. The route back to Heathrow is pretty, taking you past Stonehenge.
We would stay here again.
My husband & I were pleased we decided to stay at The Plaine & bus into Bath. Our car was left in the George Inn's car park across the street. The staff were friendly & service was prompt. Our room (Faulkland) was fresh & spacious. The bus stop is outside & buses depart regularly. We ate at the Inn each night, and self-catered for brekky. There is a Co-op up the road.
We are a family of four with kids aged 10 & 9 - getting a family room with space can be difficult as well as expensive. Therefore we found the George Inn and Plaine a really cost effective and comfortable way of staying near Bath. The room we stayed in was the Hinton - the room is spacious - my husband and I had the large double bed whilst the children shared the sofa bed which to me was huge. Big enough for them to draw a battle line down the centre and still have room. The room had a large shower (no bath) the bathroom is large and decorated well.
Highlight for us was the hot chocolate in the room which the kids enjoyed every morning. Really comfortable room just across from the main Inn where we had breakfast every morning. Would happily stay here again and the kids have asked for us to come back during the summer holidays. We had the Perfect break in picturesque surroundings
Stayed here as attending a wedding just up the road. Lovely place! I had the Wells room on the ground floor and I cannot fault the room! Spacious, light and airy. Bed very comfortable indeed. Breakfast is taken over at The George, a buffet of cereals, yogurt, fruit and pastries and then a hot menu cooked to order. Delicious! Would not hesitate to stay here again if I'm visiting the area.
We booked to stay at the Plaine as we were attending a wedding just up the road, what a treat. The room was lovely and it is associated with the George Inn across the road which is 700 years old and full of character. We were treated very well by all the staff who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast menu had it all and was top notch, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
