this is a must to see all of the city as it is too big to do everything on foot buy the 4 in 1 ticket and it covers 3 open top busses and the no 28 tram taking you up to alfama as well as all the local busses and is valid for 24 hrs from purchase of the ticket we got on the 28 tram just before expiry so it does not have to cover the entire trip this was a bargain as we used it to get from our hotel into the city both mornings too the bus that goes to the left on your map takes you past the expo site and the vasco de gama shopping mall too so if you want C&A you will find it here as well

this is a really lovely area of Lisbon quite residential but still has plenty of shops behind the santa justa tower you will find a road at the back of a shopping mall turn right up a steep hill and you will find the barrio alta we first went on the bus tour then went here on foot a few times during our stay there is a fabulous ice cream shop on the way up the hill too also lots of museums up here if that is what you are looking for

we went here on recommendation of other tripadvisor reviwers it was well worth it the restaurant is just off the square. we went for the piri piri which we always get on the Algarve and we noticed that everyone else had the same idea as there was plenty of other things on the menu too you have to order it for 2 as its a whole chicken and served with fries we ordered the salad too you also get lovely tit bits free while you wait the sauce is on the table for you to add to the chicken but be warned use sparingly as it is very very hot !!!! the meal was our least expensvie in Lisbon too . a lot of locals use it which is always a good sign I would def recommend a trip here to this most authentic restaurant

this is a lovely hotel to stay in as its very close to the city centre the bus is just around the corner and the metro station is right out side the door. we had a room at the back which was very quite the rooms at the front give you a city view but also hads the very busy main road and interchange so would be quite noisy due to the constant horn honking that goes on (just like new York ) the breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices hot or cold there is a nice coffee machine with lovely capachino and they also have about 8 different tea bags I recognised a couple of them as lemon or green tea but don't know what the rest of them were so if you are a tea drinker take your own. we took our kettle and tea bags for the room as they are not provided. the restaurant at night is sushi so did not try it all in all we had a comfortable stay here and will use it again when we return to lisbon

we had the 4 in 1 bus ticket so got into the elevator free but as it took a few seconds to get up I thought the cost of 5 euro each was a rip off as you then had to pay a further 1.5 euro to go up the spiral staircase to get to the roof. you can reach the area from barrio alto and just pay the 1.5 euro to get to the view. the building was covered in scaffolding when we were there so could not get photos of the tower

this is the tram to take you up to alfama it is so steep and the roads so narrow that the tram almost touches the walls how local people manage up here I don't know but they do I would not have been able to manage such steep hills under my own steam !!
