HI, we have four person and plan to join helihike on 21 April, but I am afraid if the weather is bad,I can't arrive there, can I book the tour when we arrive? Is anyone joined helihike book immediately?
I would recommend booking ahead of time, as the tours filled up pretty quickly. However, if the weather is bad and they can't fly, the trip is cancelled anyway. Hope that helps!
We booked the morning of our trip in October without any problems. But would probably try a few days before when more certain of the weather. Enjoy your trip.
I would suggest contacting the company directly. I believe they get booked up fairly quickly and as April is a popular time of the year you might be out of luck if you try booking on the day you want to do the trip. I believe if you give them 24 hours notice of a cancelation you will get your money back and of course if the weather is bad they won't fly and you will get a refund so if the weather is so bad you can't get to Fox Glacier there won't be a heli hike anyway. They won't confirm a trip until 10 minutes before check in time to make sure the weather on the mountain is okay so if they cancel it then you also get a refund. As I said contact them, they are very nice to deal with and will ease all your worries.
Thanks Deb,I just check in mid of April last year，there was a bad weather with snowing, I come from Newcastle in NSW,never drive in snowing before, I am afraid the road suddenly block,or I can't manage to add the chain in the wheels,I already rent the car in Queenstown. For four persons to join helihike,it is very expensive, if there have some accident we can't arrive there within 24 hours,we can't get refund I think. So,maybe try our luck, anyway we will call the company before one day to check the situation first.
