I have never gone kayaking before. So I was wondering how physically strenuous it was, and whether you would recommend it to kayaking newcomers?
Absolutely no experience necessary and just a moderate level of fitness is required. If you can walk around a busy airport, lift your luggage into a taxi and walk the stairs at your accomodation then you'll be fine on the kayak trip!
sorry for the late reply. completely fine for beginners!
On my tour we had a lovely French couple (who spoke very little English, which is fine) who had never been kayaking, let alone on the ocean! Our guide was great and gave a good demo at the beginning (on land) and also gave instruction during the trip. When the couple was having a hard time grasping the concept he tethered their boat to his and was able to give 1-1 instructions. The rest of our group was fairly confident which may have played a factor in the individual experience but I think it is safe to say these guys work with a variety or skill sets EVERYDAY so long story short if you are keen to try something new and have an absolutely incredible day DEFINITELY go with Cathedral Cove Kayak!!
I had only been kayaking once before this myself so basically had no experience and I was fine, they tell/show you everything you need to know before hand and it's not too strenuous at all, wasn't sore afterwards or anything. You should be fine. Highly recommend!
Hi Jessica - apologies for the delay in replying. The kayaking trip was not strenuous - I was new to kayaking (but I do gym work/walk). My younger daughter is an experienced kayaker. It wasn't strenuous, however, arm strength is advantageous. We did an additional trip out to the island. It's a fantastic activity - especially on a glorious day :-)) Robyn
Not strenuous at all. If you can carry your bags you can manage this and i didn't need know swimming either.
We did the family tour and had our daughter of 10 in the kayak without any problems. It is very gentle and not too physical.
It's exercise but it's really only as strenuous as you make it, you don't have to try and power through the waves etc. Just be in time with your partner (if doubled up) and you can coast about leisurely. Also take little breaks if getting tired just let the momentum take you
hi there. we had our 65yr old mum with us and she was fine. however we did the easiest one of the day at sunrise when the water is calmest. so that's worth considering if you are worried. you get plenty of breaks too.
