Going to Disney on Thanksgiving and New years eve.... My 10 year old wants a hotel with a Slide in their pool, but I'm also on a budget. (Any Veterans Discounts?) Also What goes on for New Years Eve, any must dos? or best hotels to stay at for new years eve? thanks
We are a military (retired) family and have done Disney twice in the last 2 years. The 1st year I booked everything through Disney (staying on site, meal plan for a family of 5) for 4 days; this year I booked through Ear's of Experience (travel agent specializing in military discounts for Disney) and we got the resort we wanted (Treehouses @ Saratoga Springs) and the meal plan for 6 days for less than our 4 day vacation last year!
Disney World does offer military rates to active duty and retired personnel. You have to call WDW directly to see what, if any, are still available. Any moderate or deluxe hotel will have a water slide.
New Years Eve will be considerably busier than most other travel dates and you can expect the parks, especially Magic Kingdom, to hit capacity by lunch time.
As a veteran I used MWR on base to get discounts on tickets and other items. Check with them.
You would be best to call Disney directly regarding discounts they are fantastic to work with....I do believe they offer US military discounts, but only US. Caribbean Beach Resort is a moderate hotel with a great waterslide and there are always events happening for the guests. I have not been on NYE but the fireworks at Disney are like no other!
