Hi there, yes you do need to book. I would suggest making contact with them early in your trip or even before you go, depending on the timing of your trip. We went during school holidays and they were booked out for a week so we couldn’t do the turtle tour. We were able to do a lagoon tour which was still fantastic, we all enjoyed it and I would recommend if you can’t do the turrle tour... but it wasn’t the turtle tour. Hope this helps.

I would book it with time to spare in case it gets canceled and you need to rebook it. We went to the shack to book it about a week in advance. Have fun!
