If your partner has an issue with knee I do not recommend the taxi because it leaves you in a point where it is a bit difficult going down plus steps.

Get the water taxi that is good it drops you on the sand she should be fine.

Its not easy to get on & off the boat. Make it part of the deal that the captain get assistance to help your partner on and off the boat at Patong beach and at Freedom beach. Thai are helpfull people. With knee problems the walk/ stairway is impossible to do.

You are getting on the boat in the water but it takes seconds. There was a small step in front of the boat as i remember and the guys help you when you get on/off the boat.. boat is much much easier than stairs.. i tried both.. but take a couple of fruit and a small sandwich with you and try to go not later than 10:30 bcz the tides start at noon and when water level go down stones and rocks comes close to your foot and they are so sharp. Better to buy plastic swim shoes.. But water you will see there is like maldives, you dont need any other long boat trips which gives migraines after getting off

The long boats would be better for him than the stairs for sure.

Hi,

It is not difficult, but it's not like walking stairs either, you may compare like stepping up and down on a chair. If she is able to climb on a chair to stand on it, and go down, it would be no issue. They would help usually, and you can pass first to assist.
