This may sound like a silly question but r there any mosquitos in this area?
My wife is 20 weeks pregnant and we're very cautious of Zika.
Yes there are mosquitoes in Fiji. I traveled there in June/July with my Pregnant wife and had no problems. There has been no reported cases of Zika in Fiji according to the government health body. Arrogated can by bought from shops and chemist in Fiji.
Unusually I never saw a mosquito in 2 weeks on the mainland and on the island of Kadavu. This in fact made me suspicious as the geography and temperatures are perfect for them.
Always use pest spray, I am at odds with the previous comment, Zika is widespread in Fiji, but easily avoid with correct detergents.
Note: The mosquito that spreads Zika bites during the day, so spray any time you are out.
There were none that I can see. But spray yourself with bug spray or use a natural path remedy
I don't remember there being any. But I constantly had bug repelant on.
Yes and I strongly suggest you don't go.
We never saw a mossie or even heard one while were there (Aug-Sept) but we did apply insect repellent on a regular basis. Also we noticed the bar where were having 5 O' clock drinks had a spray can of repellent for anyone to use on the bar. If you have fan in your rooms leave them on all the time mossies don't like air movement ( learnt from a previous trip).
