Glenorchy Air Questions & Answers

My wife and I plan on doing the fly/scenic cruise/fly on Dec 22nd. How long is the actual air-time from Glenorchy to Milford Sound (one-way) ? My wife can get a little air-sick, especially on a small plane, which is why I ask

The flight was about 35 minutes as the do a bit of sight seeing. I often get air sick in small planes but we had great weather & very little turbulance

A fly in & Coach by road back is a great option or vice versa...a half hour flight and they can give you a motion sickness tablet if you need.

Hi, it's around a half hour flight. I went on a calm day & obviously sometimes there may be a little turbulence on others. It flies close to the mountains and you feel you can almost touch them! The experienced pilots make sure they take a flight path which is less buffeting and will take great care....Enjoy!

Depends on the weather conditions and airport traffic but 30 - 45mins. We had some turbulence both ways, while crossing the water & before heading over the mountains, but otherwise a smooth ride. The pilot knew before we hit the turbulence and warned us that it may be bumpy, which was helpful, at least you were prepared. The plane we went in was only a 4 seater, limited space, but they do have larger planes, which would help your wife. Hope you do the flight, it is truly spectacular, well worth the money and saves time too. Late October this year, we did the drive to Milford Sound, which was also nice but you need a full day to appreciate the area. We stayed overnight at Milford & did the early morning breakfast cruise the next day (the cooked breakfast was free and very nice - also highly recommended!!). Take some light weight wet weather jackets with you cause there is usually some rain/ showers.

I believe it was a little under an hour. I also get air sick and had no problem at all with this flight. The pilot was very good.

Hi, It's a beautiful trip and worth taking. Have you considered travelling by coach one way. My daughter took a coach there and back and was impressed by the scenery and stops along the way. This may be a good compromise for your wife.

cheers

About 40 minutes. Very beautiful, especially in Winter with snow on the mountains.

It's about 30-40 mins max for the flight. It has some turbulence sometimes. But keep the mind distracted with the beautiful scenery and you guys will be fine, u can always tell them after arrving that u will take the bus back instead of the flight, they are quite understanding and will work for what's best for you, they will adjust the charges to what u take so no pressure
