I have booked to stay at Hotel Roma in September 2015 and I am extremely concerned about what I might encounter on my first trip to Malta.
The reviews I have read since booking are terrible. Do rooms really not have air conditioning?
I can't recall if my room had AC as I stayed in December and not needed all I can say if you want to spend time in your room stay at home watching Sky n soaps, yawn.if you wanna be in a great clean comfy centrally located good value spot stay here, don't moan get a €1.50 bus pass and enjoy this fab island, adequate breakfast also,
trip advisor I am getting bored with the 5star jokers who post on here ! Who go away once a year expecting stars when they pay a tenner !
If you haven't booked a room with sea view change to one with, I think only sea view rooms have aircon. Ours did & also cieling fan directly over bed which we found very good. Ask for a room with sea view away from stairs & on higher floor which will be quieter away from the restaurant & main rd. don't be put off by bad comments. Some people expect luxury at rock bottom prices. For what they charge it's good value. We've been 5 times & stayed in worse a lot more expensive. Malta is lovely & the people very friendly. You are better off to change money there, just take small amount for bus fare.If you need any more advice on restaurants or transport please ask
We went in winter' so didn't notice lack of air con, had a lovely room with balcony and sea views.mthe staff were great, breakfast was fine. It is a great location. I liked it, we have stayed in lots of budget hotels in Europe, this was one of the nicest.
Electricity is very dear in Malta, so that is probably why there isn't aircon. You would need to pay significantly more I guess. We rented a flat for two months, our electric bill was double the bond money!!
Hello, we stayed at The Roma Hotel in January this year. We had room 42 which did have a fan on the ceiling and a floor standing fan, though we did not need them as it was quite cool. The room had a balcony and a fantastic view. However it was not very clean and there was very little hot water. TV channels were very limited and the twin beds were hard. The staff were nice and helpful.
Take a torch with you as we had a power cut which lasted all day and it was dark on the stairs as the lift (which is cranky) was not working.
There is a steep flight of stairs into the hotel. Breakfast was okay but not too much choice.
The bus service is close by and you can travel very cheaply for a whole week all over the island.
Please enjoy your first stay to Malta we have been there three times, it is a wonderful place with lovely people, maybe we are just fussy as I suppose you pay for what you get and the Roma is a budget hotel but we won't go there again, its a good base and that's about all.
I hope this information has been helpful, please let me know if I can help again.
Certainly not the one I stayed in, but it did have a window that opened and gave adequate ventilation, and I understand that all of the other rooms also had windows that opened.
If its your first trip to Malta there is far to much to see and enjoy - the hotel is only somewhere to lay your head at night. Don't worry you will be fine. 5 star it isn't but hey I stayed in a lot worse - trust me!!!. If you want all mod cons and air conditioning, you have picked the wrong hotel I'm afraid - but if you intend being out all day then it is fine!
Hi no air conditioning. There is a ceiling fan. If you can cope with that and windows open you will be okay. Hotel is ideally situated and great for everything else.
We love the place .My wife and I go in January every year the beds are comfortable ,the food is good, and breakfast, all you can eat ,everything clean and well presented. The staff are most helpful and friendly, there are good fan heaters in the room .Now,this is an older, feel at home, type Hotel,as is general here,(but is changing fast). If you want a five star hotel the Hilton and many others are here, but at a bigger price, the choice is yours.
