The best way “on the cheap” is to walk. There is a station south of town(Whittlesford) that is not too far from the museum and you can walk to/from there. You’ll be walking along a busy road and there is no sidewalk or footpath, google it first to make sure it’s worth it to you to save a few pounds though. But it’s doable.

Next cheapest option would be arrive at Whittlesford and call a taxi from there. If you can’t reach one, call the museum and ask them to call you a cab, they are very helpful. A cab from here will be much cheaper than a cab from Cambridge.

Hi Jonathan, my personal advice is get a cheap day return ticket to Whittlesford Parkway. Get a cab - it is only 2.3 miles to the IWM about 6 minutes. Try telephoning Triple A taxis in Duxford on 01799 668166. Just an idea. Enjoy your visit.

We went by train to Royston then taxi to Duxford. Being a bit paranoid about missing my Dragon Rapide flight I prebooked a taxi for both directions which is a bit expensive.

There were plenty of taxis waiting at the station and the fare is a lot less, about 20 to 25 pounds each way. You can also ring for a local taxi as the numbers are readily available.

Uber has a bit of the market in Cambridge but not much in the small towns.

Hi,

My solution was to take a taxi, which cost around 20 pounds each way. My son told me you may try UBER, if you are in this system. There is a bus line that connects the museum but it goes to the Trumpington bus station south of the city, ( watch for that if you pick a bus ) may be from there, you have another bus line to the center.. ( Parkside bus stop in the center ) .Taxi may be a cost, but it allowed me to stay all day in the museum.

Hope it helps

Regards

Hi, sorry I do not know the area and I came by car. I suggest you give the museum a call and they should be able to help you Also you will need the whole day to look around and take it all in.
