Thinking about attempting the start of the track out of Kalamunda but a friend, who did it and is a very fit older person has told me the track is really steep for the entire section between kalamunda and Mundaring and nothing more than a 'goats' track. this has frightened me as I am a beginner and I had a terrible experience doing a walk in the Northern Territory that was way beyond my capabilities and I ended up sick. I don't want to make the same mistake . How hard is it? What type of training should I do to make sure I am fit enough. Unfortunately I live in a very flat remote town with no elevations to practise on. Any help/advice is appreciated .
