What travellers are saying
- JurreSilbiKrakow, Poland81 contributionsMarvelous place with an altar triptych by Lucas Cranach the Elder (side panels) and modern art in the middle section. Interesting combination of old and modern. Altars, sculptures, all these on the Unesco Heritage list. Also catacombs with a very old wooden Christ and modern stained glasses are worth visiting. Excellent experience.Written 6 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MrOrganistGuildford, UK349 contributionsWhat a delightful operation.
Beautifully kept trams, friendly staff, and public-transport-level fares.
Naumburg would be a charming place without the tram, so this is the icing on the cake. I went by train from Leipzig, which was easy. During the week, trams leave Hbf on the hour and on the half hour.Written 22 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were not able to take in the view of its tower, but spend a pleasant evening around it in its restaurants and bars.Written 25 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Daniel NEau Claire, WI31 contributionsThis museum documents the history of the city of Naumburg and this part of Prussia from early times. i don't recall that the National Socialist period or the DDR period were included. There is and interesting part about clothing styles and the role of black clothing. Each room covers a period of history and it probably brings the visitor up to the 20th Century but I recall mainly the older history. I live in Wisconsin which was once proposed to be a German colony. Many immigrants came here from Germany after troubles at home in 1848 and this history was well documented. I suppose I found that most interesting. There may be English translations of what is written in the exhibits but I am not sure. I also don't know if there is a German or English take-along audio but I don't think so. I can speak and read German but I think someone who does not know German can appreciate this museum.Written 22 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - axelsLillehammer, Norway2,196 contributionsOn our way from Apolda to Naumburger Dom by car, - out of the forest, a lefthand corner and there it was "Schulpforta" - what a beautiful place and full of history! It 's a school located in a former Cistercian monastery from 1137 to 1540! After this the monks started with school education, as private Gymnasium and it still works today!!
Today, it is a well-known public boarding school for academically gifted children, called Landesschule Pforta. It is coeducational and teaches around 300 high school students. When going to Naumburg, remember to visit "Pforta" too!! - and google it!!Written 9 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
