Decided to stay in Maddalena for 3 nights, on our way to Costa Smeralda. Great decision. Much better destination than the coast. Plus if you love visiting, cycling, hiking, secluded beaches, everything is there. I would recommend to not make the mistake of only visiting for the day. The village has a lot to offer, plenty of great places to just sit have a coffee, great restaurants. Plus staying ion Maddalena, gives you the chance to visit the city, the island, get on Caprera for hiking from fabulous coves to coves. We did not do the boat day tours, though no time. Maddalena was a highlight of our trip

I would recommend to be there early as it gets busy really quickly. August and September are the best months to swim (sea very warm)

Reservation only, list of guides on the La Maddelena parks website. We thought this was an unnecessary hassle at first, but once we started we quickly understood the reasons. We had Giuliano as a guide, extremely knowledgeable of the area, plant and animal life, good natured & humorous. The trail is about 40-45 minute hike, steep in sections, some loose rock and very hot with no shade. When you get to the beach it takes your breath away, turquoise blue water and small fine sandy area and easy access, some juniper bushes scattered around the bay under rocks for shade, you can find a shady spot. Due to previous years of no regulation, the beach could not handle the amount of traffic (500 people in some days). A place this beautiful needs protection so I am glad to see the restrictions, and a €25 per person for a guide is well worth it. We biked to the parking spot, give yourself 1/1.25 hours from La Maddelena (some hills on the way up !). Met our guide there at 9am, he let us stay for 3 hours which went quickly. Bring a bite to eat and lots of water. You can stop for beers on the way down. One of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to. Thank you Giuliano !

A really beautiful beach! Soft sand, no pebbles, clear water and a beach bar nearby! We’re visiting a new beach a day and this is our favourite so far!

nice beach with amazing colors, perfect for children. Easy free parking. Watch jelly fish... Nice place also for freediving. I recommend to arrive not too late in the morning, after mid day it is crowded

With so many beaches on offer in Sardinia/La Maddalena it is difficult to narrow down which ones to visit on a short trip. This one was our favourite by far. Don't let the reviews about the road and walking put you off- you can park your car a 10 minute walk from the beach and the walk is very easy, no effort at all.
We stopped at the first beach- a very quiet cove with crystal clear calm water. Be sure to arrive before 12pm as it begins to get busy after this point. Not much sand but if you're looking for clear waters to snorkel and swim in a natural setting with rocks you can't beat this beach.

Santa Maria Island is not the best of the Arcipelago de la Maddalena, but the beach is still one of the best to swimming in the beautiful blue water.

Directions fir the ferry are clearly marked by street signs when you arrive near Palau. You don’t need to buy a ticket before hand but it may be cheaper online. We bought a return ticket on the ferry. The staff speak English and were friendly. BE AWARE they take a form of ID when you arrive to buy a ticket but you get this back as soon as you pay. Return journey in August was £50 for two people (they charge per person and vehicle). Busy in the morning and calmer in the evening with spaces and lots of regular services.

Porto della Madonna is a MUST-SEE in Sardinia.

To get here, you can hire a speedboat or yacht from Le Maddalena or Palau, if you know where you're going. It was our first time in Sardinia, so we booked ourselves onto a day tour (35 euro/person).

Porto della Madonna is a shallow natural swimming pool between several tiny islands north of La Maddalena. Our medium-size boat was nimble and our captain had a steady hand. That means we could weave around the rocks that sticks out of the turquoise sea and anchor in the middle of a lagoon. Just as we dived into the sea, our chef threw some leftover pasta overboard, sending the fish into a feeding frenzy. If you have a right outfit, you could even perch atop a rock and play mermaid! I thought we're in a Disney movie.

    It was magic! Highly recommended.

We tried all the Gelato places on La Maddalena and this was our favourite. They all have similar flavours but the lady working here was alwys so friendly and welcoming. Grazie!

I tried to bike with my husband on a very windy day. I made it across the bridge and had to turn back. I asked my husband to enjoy his day. I saw this club and asked if I could rent an umbrella, chill, and wait for my husband. The club was closed but they accommodated me. They let me use the umbrella and beach chairs. They refused to take my money but I gave some cash to the worker who opened the umbrella for me. I chilled there two hours and it was so peaceful. The place is fantastic. The area and garden is just gorgeous. The beach is clean and so clear. The rocks form many levels and there are umbrellas in shade, in grass, on the beach. I am so sad it was closed when I went. I’d love to wakeboard there some day. This California girl approves of this awesome place and thanks them for their kindness!

This is a beautiful white sand beach on the north side of the island, not where the TripAdvisor map locates it. It is not far from Cala Trinita.

We found it as we drove around the island.
