The Source flows out at the top of the walking trail lined with shops and cafes from the town center. The stream emerges from under the cliffs and flows through the canals of L'Isle sur la Sorgue and beyond.

We visited this place in August. Here you can see the artisan working and he explains what he is doing in French. Although not all of us spoke French, just to look at him work the glass was amazing. We also bought a couple of glass pieces to take back home with us.

The only little drawback is that it is situated in the small artisan village called Vallis Clausa and the place is on the shabby side and could use a face lift.

With a friends of Germany we visited this very old church of Fontaine de Vaucluse, quite surprised of the most beautiful effect. Maintained with love, it presents impeccable architectural
roman ensembles and a great internal sobriety. Must be visited if you are in the village !

What an incredible collection. This small museum has the largest collection of Santon that I have ever seen in one location. The wonderful, kind, women at the entry point explained there was a charge but if we didn't think the charge was worth it, she would refund the entry fee. Too bad other museums don't have such confidence in their collections! With a little bit of English and slow French the entry person explained the history of Santons. The story is fascinating. It is a bit of history unique to France. This museum should not be missed. It is unique and stands out as a highlight of our month stay in France.

This museum showing some of the history of the French Resitance in the Second World War is fascinating and well worth visiting. The many displays and maps really convey the atmosphere of those times. Our only wish was for more English translations of some of the texts as my French was not good enough to follow all of the written notices. But we found it well worthwhile visiting this museum in this charming village.

This museum about the history of paper making in France gives you a good idea of how high quality paper is produced. From the huge water wheel driving the pistons which pound the rags to the finished paper it is fascinating to see the different stages of paper making. The shop is full of interesting things and has a lovely selection of gifts and books. The museum is right beside the lovely river Sorgue in the stunning village of Fontaine de Vaucluse.

Very well presented with an audio-guide to take around with you: Char on the ground floor, Petrarch on the first, and contemporary collections on the second. My only minor complaint is that the numbers were difficult to find in order to follow the guide, especially as they had (inexplicably) a patterned background. Definitely not for children or non-literary adults: this is serious stuff.

Although it is impossible for sightseers to actually explore the underwater caves where the spring at Fontaine de Vaucluse originates, you can get an idea of the history of it's exploration through this modest exhibition and tour.
The tour is in French but there are pictures of the exploration teams at work over the last 100 years, artifacts of their equipment, maps and diagrams. As you advance into the exhibition itself, which is created to give the feel of being in a cave-like setting, you see examples of cave rock and water formations and examples of real stalactites and stalagmites from all over Europe. The kids in our small group seemed to love this, and the woman leading the tour spoke directly to them, involving them in the experience.

So, if you have no idea of what caves or cave exploration might be like and want to see, go on this tour. If you have kids from 5 to 16 with you, go on this tour. If you are an adult who has some experience of caves already, it might not be worth your time.
