What travellers are saying
- hihashelleymoanaAuckland, New Zealand41 contributionsEasy access to most platforms to view and take photos. A good swimming area at the bottom. I enjoyed being able to get several views of these falls and wish I had had my swim gear with me.
Parking was easy, too.

Had to be dragged away! Do not hesitate to visit if you are passing anywhere near, but beware, it will not be a quick visit!Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CraigH0901Adelaide, Australia1,256 contributionsA large area to explore. Walk from the store across the bridge to the Maori Village - NZD10 each to explore on your own. There is plenty of signs - no need for a guide. There is also a Maori boat on that side with picnic grounds as well. Back on the store side, there is a good cafe with plenty of seating. The oldest building in NZ and the Stone Store Museum and shop to look through. Another NZD20 for both buildings.
You could spend hours here. Be prepared to walk around on well maintained tracks.Written 23 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is certainly what NZ was like thousands of years ago. The boardwalk trails were flat and easy to get around. It does not take a lot of time - less than an hour is fine. Out guide was very good and our tour group learned a lot about the trees and animals. No facilities and limited parking. It does get cool at that altitude and under the trees, so bring a jacket.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - london057Dublin, OH695 contributionsThis is very nice 😊 trail . Another thing in the forest 🌳 you see a lot of nice lushness. Also the scenery is lovely.🥰. Lastly, I recommend to anyone on their visit to the Bay of Islands.Written 24 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Toni SWhakatāne, New Zealand28 contributionsSpent 2 nights in our fifth wheeler there and we were blown away by their tasty food and menu selection. Even was served to our caravan. - NessyBeeAuckland Central, New Zealand27 contributionsLovely campsite, but the powered sites are very small and close to each other. These are described on the campsite map so make sure you read this so you know what to expect. Fantastic location to see kiwis at night, to fish and kayak when the tide is in. Small swimming area constrained by rocks and oysters either side. Toilets a bit ripe in the heat! Hosts were very friendly.Written 4 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sue CTauranga, New Zealand49 contributionsVisited this vineyard in Feb 2021.
What a delight.
I was wanting some different wines for our wine appreciation group.I got 3 very different products & didn't need to go anywhere else.
A white port,walnut liqueur & a grappa.[whew]
I also tried the Sailors Sky rose for myself which is like the description of ripe strawberries.Served cold it is not too sweet & very palatable.Written 28 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robyn CCambridge, New Zealand14 contributionsThis track had everything... beauty, calling Kiwis, river, waterfalls, tropical plants, kauri trees, boardwalks, friendly home owners along the way, and it was all maintained beautifully. We hiked this as part of our endeavour to complete Te Araroa with our cockatiel, so were grateful to have this included as part of our adventure. Thank you to the person who added the wonderful wooden throne along the track - just brilliant! - ChristineC_831Santa Cruz, CA310 contributionsCruise ships dictate schedule, lovely little walk and chat with local creative types. Excellent and authentic goods a refreshing experience. Town is too cute for words, but sadly overrun with cruise ship plebes during summer months.Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Grace EPaihia, New Zealand27 contributionsNow called Sovrano Estate - authentic Italian food in a relaxed vineyard setting. Family run restaurant with superb food and great selection of local and Italian wines. Every dish was excellent - fig wrapped in prosciutto with goat cheese filling was a stand out entree and proper ragú lasagna was exceptional. Desserts equally as good especially the pana cotta and the Orange chocolate mousse. Very friendly, great service and ended up buying some take home wine as the their estate Pinot Grigio was exceptional. Definitely coming back!Written 3 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
