Cala Montgó is one of the beaches located in the surroundings of L'Escala, one of the towns in Costa Brava Region, in Girona Province, in the North of Catalonia. Some friends did a hiking from l'Estartit to Cala Montgó and see some very beautiful and unknown pebble beaches. The last one, we could see from a very nice lookout was Cala Montgó. We can not arrive there (it was almost the sunset), but we could see very beautiful views of the beach. I hope finish the hike in a next future and arrive to this sand beach.

Picturesque hilltop walk with gorgeous views. There are a few very lovely looking restaurants and quaint little shops. The cottages are postcard perfect.

Interesting museum about the thriving port of L'Escala and its anchovy business. Sometimes it is free of charge entry on special holidays

What a fantastic Museum which explains the historical development of the L'Escala area.. The exhibits and video presentations are excellent. The Museum was opened 2 years ago and is housed in an old Custom house. The restoration works are worth a visit themselves. The Spanish architects have been imaginative and sensitive. All in all a lovely place to spend a morning or afternoon out of the heat. The staff were very friendly and informative. It's not easy to find even though it only 60m from the main town beach.

Nice and cozy little beach near San Marti. Very nice sand, and a big plus: it's way less crowded than the other "platjas" nearby.

Loving history, this is well worth seeing. The introductory film was well done and the audio guide was excellent. The first part is the Greek area and the ruins are a bit overwhelming in the size of them. The Roman area has only been 25% excavated.

Nice place to be in the water, it’s usually calm as it tends to be sheltered from the elements.
Sometimes it can be a bit crowded.
The entrance is closed die to falling rocks but accessible from the water on the next Cala.
