What travellers are saying
- SandeepS78 contributionsEnchanting and mesmerising experience at this beach. You find clean, strong, super long view here. If you like to run, walk long ways along seaside this is the choice. Very wide view of sunset that you will never miss. Big waves and extreme sports can be done here.Written 26 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ksez1New England63 contributionsThis has to be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The views are outstanding. It was March, so no massive waves, but there was plenty of surfers.
The food trucks on the path to the lighthouse have some good food lunch options. Restrooms at at the top and cost 50cents to use.
As others have mentioned, the walk to the lighthouse is long and steep, but be sure to have 3 euros per person to take a shuttle (tuk-tuk) back to the top.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - katerinaholubovaBenesov, Czech Republic11 contributionsWhat a place! We stood there speechless for more than 10 minutes wondering, how big the waves can be, but seeing just the ,small” once ( it wasn’t the season for Nazare giant waves) it was great enough. For 2€ you can enter the fort and go through a great exhibition with many great stories of the surfers who did the giant waves, the story about the waves forming underneath the surface and of course, the view! Amazing!
We went there with 5month old baby and it is suitable for strollers up until the top level- there you have to take stairs.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The inside is beautiful with gold gilding and tiles for decoration, you won’t want to miss it. The church contains a revered statue of the Madonna and Child Jesus, said to have come from Nazareth (hence the name of this town), and said to have been carved by St. Joseph himself. It is one of the oldest statues of the Madonna and Child and so alone, is well worth a visit to this beautiful church. Read up on-line about the miracle attributed to Our Lady and its association with this statue, it'll make your visit to this church all the more fascinating and meaningful.Written 5 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NoeB1Antwerp, Belgium1,227 contributionsThis place is nice to have a beach walk. The beach was to windy and cold to sit down even it was summer!Written 19 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Louise Masin SattlerLos Angeles, CA1,099 contributionsThis church is so pretty with amazing tile and stonework. And the historical significance brings an even more interesting reason to visit. Based in the heart of the Nazare historical district. Note: The walkway is cobblestone.Written 11 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- fonsbikesSidmouth, UK212 contributionsA good walk from Nazare out of town and through some nice pine forest. The climb up is short but steep and you will need to be reasonably fit to do it. It is steps all the way to the top. The view on a clear day is great. The actual lookout tower is locked but you get the same view from the cross.Written 23 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - saul gTel Aviv, Israel1,249 contributionsLocated at the south corner of "O Sitio" square , adjacent to the observation point/terrace , this 12th Cent. built tiny chapel is of great importance to the history and people of Nazare . Worth a visit .Written 1 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Darren LQueenstown, MD817 contributionsWhile we didn't luck out and get a day with large waves, it was still amazing to see. There is quite a walk downhill to get to the lighthouse, so plan accordingly for the walk back.Written 6 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travel_Girl_ReviewsLondon, UK523 contributionsMake sure that you have a visit here!
The fruit and vegetables are a reasonable price and there is a lovely variety.
The bread variety is extensive and they taste beautiful.
You will also find cheeses, meats and nuts.
Upstairs you will find the seafood section.
There are a few cafes in the market which have nice coffee, pastries, etc.
The toilets are free! They are next to the seafood section.
We eat our way around the market for about €10.
