Definitely a good half day spent in Hong Kong. Take the tram up, walk down either the same path or through the Pok Fu Lam country park (take a bus to get back to Hong Kong central).

For a good view from the peak tower without buying the sky tower ticket, there's a glass window on the level below the one where you deboard from the tram.

I lived in HK 30 years ago and have been back at least 20 times since. I always make a point of riding the Star Ferry. You can't beat it. Best view in the world for a negligible amount of money. Take your iconic pictures from your seat as you move between HK and T.S.T

Fab scenic cable car trip to see the Big Buddha!
Long queues for the cable car early afternoon so either go very early or mid afternoon!
Lovely touristy village on getting there selling all manner of trinkets. We even saw a beautiful brown cow just wandering about.
Big Buddha looked glorious, being reached by many steps.
Inside Buddha there is a museum of beautiful Chinese paintings.
The view was wonderful too & would definitely recommend when visiting Hong Kong!

I was in Hong Kong for the last time in February 2020, just before Covid-19 caused travel chaos worldwide and many borders almost everywere were closed. Now that the Hong Kong border is fully opened, i returned and stayed here for 2 nights altogether. The Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade in Kowloon is almost just down the road from the Kowloon Hotel where i stayed for one night. From the Tsim Sha Shui Promenade on Kowloon, the views of the Hong Kong Skyline on Hong Kong island on the other side are always most spectacular, both day and night. Very impressive indeed as far as i am concerned👍👍👍

Founded in 1904, the Hong Kong Tramways boasts of having the largest double-deck tram fleet still in operation. Moreover, it claims to be Hong Kong’s most environment-friendly mode of public transport.

On our first night in the Hong Kong leg of our trip, we travelled from our hotel at the mid-levels to the North Point to have dinner. We then walked towards the Victoria Park and from there, rode the tram until the Admiralty MTR Station tram stop.

There are six tram routes travelling east-west traversing Hong Kong Island. With 120 tram stops, you have to know which tram to ride and which stop to disembark at. The tram route is displayed on the LED panels at the front of any arriving tram. In our case, we could have ridden any tram going to the Western Market or to Shek Tong Tsui or to Kennedy Town as these all pass by the Admiralty MTR Station tram stop.

The trams have a one-way flow of people where you get in the driver’s side door and pay, then get off the other door. It is cheaper than the MTR, costing a flat rate of only HK$3 to ride the tram to any tram stop along the way. There is a card reader upon entering the tram, which can read the Octopus Card, Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and Unionpay cards. There is also a coin box where passengers can pay in cash but you need to pay the exact amount, or else you will not be able to get any change back. We used our Octopus card for the trip.

I found the tram easier to ride than the MTR because there is less walking to get to the ticketing station and platforms—the tram stops are right at the street level.

Since the trams are double decker, we were able to get seats at the upper deck. It offers an unobstructed view of the lights and colors of Hong Kong especially at night. The trams are clean and well-maintained. You have to be mindful of your footing, though, when going up and down from the upper deck The driver will not wait for all passengers to sit back once they are authorized to proceed. Likewise, be prepared to hop off the tram just before you reach the station.

It was great being able to ride in this iconic transport that traces its history to almost 120 years. I would definitely get in the Ding Ding again when traveling east-west within Hong Kong Island.

The cable car ride is the star attraction, offering breathtaking views of lush mountains and the serene South China Sea, providing a serene escape from the city below.

Upon arriving at Ngong Ping Village, a culturally immersive experience unfolds. The majestic Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery offer tranquility and spirituality, while the Wisdom Path invites serene walks amidst nature.

Visitors can engage in tea appreciation sessions, sample local vegetarian cuisine, and explore traditional architecture and artifacts. Despite queues, the experience is worth it.

The difference between Standard and Crystal cable cars lies in the transparent floor, with Crystal+ offering floor-to-ceiling views.

Despite queues, the journey and cultural richness make Ngong Ping 360 an unforgettable adventure, perfect for spiritual retreats, cultural explorations, or scenic escapes.

This garden is really beautiful. There's so many things to see so definitely worth doing a detour to see this place. Don't forget to see the temple as well.

The bustling atmosphere and vibrant energy of the city came alive at this iconic waterfront location. The skyline views were simply breathtaking, especially at night when the city lit up with a warm glow. I found myself enchanted by the bustling boats and ferries that crisscrossed the harbor, adding to the romantic charm of the scene. Victoria Harbour is truly a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the heart and soul of Hong Kong.

Our extended family of 4 adults and 4 children (ranging from ten to 6 years old) visted here during the busy Chinese New Year holidays.

This is a fantastic park with animals, shows, rides and lots to do for all ages. We focused on seeing the aqualife in the aquarium and shark exhibit. We moved on to the penguins and artic foxes which are beautiful - we were lucky to see them as they were being fed. We watched the dolphin and sea lion show which is in Cantonese and Mandarin (sadly no English). We took the train up and cable car down, finishing with a visit to the pandas. The large souviner shop near the entrance/exit of the park is worth a visit.

A day is not enough if you want to also go on rides and see more of the park. Food outlets get busy so during peak times, I suggest you eat early/later to avoid the rush.

    Overall, a great visit. Enjoy!

Been to Hong Kong Kowloon before and visited the usual tourist attractions like The Peak, Victoria Harbour, Tsim Sha Tsui, did my shopping at Mongkok and Ladies' Market, ate my authentic dim sum at Sham Shui Po --- totally loved the hustle and bustling when I was single...

This time we decided to stay just on Lantau Island, because being older now, we just wanted something more relaxing, closer to nature and perhaps, not be caught in a jam (be it traffic or human jam). Glad that we did, and we were able to cover all these in our 5-day trip:

    1. Airport
The airport was just a 15-minute ride to our hotel.
Loved the short ride and almost totally empty roads.

    2. Hotel
True, there were many other hotels in Lantau,
but none as fun at Disney Explorers Lodge, with its sea-facing views.

    3. Transport
Also linked to the hotel, because the taxi concierge was EXCELLENT...
Always managed to get our taxi to us in under 10 minutes.
(We tried getting taxi by ourselves outside the hotel, it was always so hard. Literally no taxis come after 20 minutes of waiting at any taxi stands. Always had to use Uber.)

    4. Mountains - Ngong Ping
The Ngong Ping 360 cable car station was also about 15 minutes ride away.
It was cool to take the cable car ride that crosses several mountains and the sea.
Saw many hikers too, would try the hike when we were more prepared next time!
The Ngong Ping Village, Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastry wewre on these mountains.

    5. Fishing Village - Tai O
Just a small fishing village - but loved that we got to walk around to enjoy the relaxing vibes, pet some freely roaming cats and enjoy the delicious local street food. Boat ride around the stilted houses of the village and out to catch the dolphins frolicking in the water was quite a treat too. The seafood was cheap and exceptionally fresh. They sell lots of dried seafood too as food souvenirs.

    6. Disneyland
With kids, we definitely wanted to enjoy Disneyland. Been to Shanghai and Tokyo's - and would say the queues here are somewhat shorter (...it could be because everything here's more expensive than the other two parks). And of course we were here to enjoy the world's first - "World of Frozen" that also coincides with "Disney 100" celebration - so lots of cool souvenirs this year. Quite cool that they have Disney-themed Godiva chocolates too.

    7. Shopping - Citygate and... 11 Skies???
Citygate mall has lots of outlet stores, and plenty of food options.
But what we were even more excited about (thought it would have opened when we visited but it hasn't) was the 11 Skies mall - touted to be the largest - with about 800 stores and 1200 dining options - feels like it's gonna be three times larger than Citygate (which was, already a very large mall).

It seemed cool that they've features like Kidzania, Arte Museum (like the Art Science Museum of Singapore's Marina Bay Sands), Timeless Flight Ride (kinda like Soaring in Tokyo Disneyland / i-Ride in Taipei). Found out that this mall is being developed by the same developer of K11 Musea... which is the newest cool mall in Tsim Sha Tsui along Victoria Harbour.

So if we were to visit Hong Kong again,
Would love to stay at Lantau again,
but definitely after the 11 Skies Mall is fully open, perhaps after 2025!
