If you stay in Perth you MUST take some time to come and visit this Park. If you are in Perth CBD the free BLUE cat bus will take you there in less than 15 minutes from Elizabeth Quay (you can take the bus in front of The Bell Tower or at the Bus Station). If you stay near the University, then take the free PURPLE cat bus. Walk along your preferred pathway and surely you will reach a lookout point, from which you will have an amazing view over Perth CBD. If you are interested in history, you will find war memorials in different areas of the park that will make you understand the role Australia (and in this case the people of Perth) had in the different conflicts around the world. And if you love science, well, a stop at the DNA Tower is absolutely compulsory. You love BOTANY, instead? In this case you are in HEAVEN. There is no other world to describe it. Amazing was to see how they recreated in the flowerbeds around the park all the different habitats of Australia's main plant species. From 9 to 17 you can walk as well over the Federation Walkway and see the amazing trees from above. I do think a day is not enough to fully appreciate this park, so when you need a break from the city, just head over to this park and enjoy its relaxing atmosphere.

All Capital Cities with a river offer the same but here in Perth the river area around the city is improving all the time with river and sea cruises and even a bank to bank cruise which we really enjoyed

A pleasant experience and a unique building ….we listened to the bells while having breakfast first then visited. My friend purchased a padlock and had it engraved by John who emailed photos of this almost immediately…he was great and this is a wonderful way of noting your visit.

Sitting proudly in King’s Park is this gracious memorial to the fallen. The memorial overlooks the city of Perth, with views of the Swan & Canning Rivers and the Darling Ranges.
The memorial is an almost replica of the Australian Imperial Force Memorials in France and Belgium.

A great place for children of all ages, so many things to explore plus live shows throughout the day you won’t be bored here! Easy to get to via train/bus there is also a car park you can pay to use, inside a shopping centre they also have a cafe inside which offered a good selection of food and drink.

The original western half of the Cathedral was built from 1863 to 1865 in a Norman Gothic style with two porches and a spire being added in 1905 adding to its Gothic style. The Cathedral was enlarged during the period from 1926 to 1930 with the construction of the eastern half, however, due to financial restrictions resulting from the Great Depression, many of the original design features were not completed. The two halves had been joined during this time with the original Cathedral, less its sanctuary, being retained as the nave for the expanded Cathedral. It appears though that many thought the joining was not done well and that the Cathedral was incomplete.

The third construction phase from 2006 to 2009 resulted in major restructuring and restoration works being undertaken that included moving the Sanctuary to the centre of the Cathedral, building a new crypt, increased seating capacity, a choir room, an under croft car park and a second spire.

The result is quite lovely with lots of natural light flowing into the centre of the Cathedral and it having a very modern feel and look about it.

There are some beautiful paintings and stained glass windows.

Taking advantage of the free public transport we visited Elizabeth Quay on the weekend. The splash pad is great for children to cool off, we hopped on the ferry across the river and there is a fun fair on however that doesn’t start until 5pm!

This is a worthwhile part of the Kings Park to visit. You get lovely views over the river and also of the surrounding gardens. It reminds me of a much smaller version of the Tahune Airwalk in Tasmania!

Brilliant little walk around with kangaroos to look at.
Area is clean and well taken care of, no litter anywhere during my visit.
Path is rustic and natural, which is great for wildlife.
I went around 17.30 and saw at least 7 different kangaroos, which was fantastic!
Above there will be parrots, parakeets and long legged fishing birds flying overhead.
I was here for approximately an hour and really enjoyed seeing one of the animals that Australia is so famous for!
Even though there are construction works going on its still a super little trip out!

Having been born and bred in Perth and visited these gardens many times as a child, this was purely a nostalgia visit and it did not disappoint.
The same tranquil oasis that I remembered and the Pied Piper statue brought back many fond memories.
