What travellers are saying
- nini637Melbourne, Australia66 contributionsthey say in some reviews that it will be a short walk to the falls. they were right but failed to mention the vertical distance. it was a good hike and better bring a walking stick with you.Written 5 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mdh969Canberra, Australia615 contributionsWe were staying in Tauranga for a few days so took a trip to the Hamilton Botanical gardens. There is no entry fee, but you can purchase a map for $2.00 to find your way around. This place is huge, so the map is a worthwhile purchase. The money for the map goes toward the upkeep of the gardens.
The gardens are stunning, and you can easily spend half a day looking at all the themed gardens.
There is also a cafe that serves hot drinks and food.Written 11 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This is an excellent draw card for the Hamilton community. All credit to Heather who hosted us.
The only negative was the disability access which was altered by the Council and is not practical.Written 5 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Reinforced my view that regional Victorian galleries often have the best exhibitions. This one closes in April 2024. Will have to return to see the standing exhibition.Written 23 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Susan B3 contributionsDefinitely worth a visit! It was raining so we didn’t do the walk down the stairs to the lower viewing platform but it would have been amazing! The drive in along a narrow tree lined country lane with sheep grazing in the paddocks was lovely too.Written 25 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hasim S89 contributionsWe were 5 mins to the closing time and Glen Campe, the owner still let us in. We were really impressed with the antique car collections. Most of them are older than us and yet still in such a well-maintained state. Besides these, there are other collections worth looking at. Old gramophone still working well (Glen kept asking us to dance to the music it produces:-). We spent at least an hour in there but could have been a lot longer if not for the plan to visit somewhere else. Glen was so helpful. Entrance of $10 per person, I would say is low compared to the experience.Written 8 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - echidnatripMelbourne, Australia80 contributionsVery conveniently located off the main road between Hamilton and Ballarat. Drive up to the viewing platform. Very little walking required. Falls were thundering down with all the rain we have had.Written 24 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Helen HHamilton, Australia26 contributionsLake Hamilton is an easy walk with three or four playgrounds on the way around. One of them is huge and has a great BBQ area. We also found that you can continue the walk down the creek which is a lovely bush walk that included koalas.Written 8 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony WSydney, Australia4,673 contributionsThe fantastically helpful staff in this tourist information centre allowed us to not only find an unexpected site to visit that was of immense interest but due to some bad weather due the next day they made some suggestions that allowed us change our plans and have a great day doing something unplanned and unexpected. Thanks!!Written 7 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sm050604,679 contributionsLocated in a small country town this cinema is well run. The staff are friendly & welcoming. Being in a country town the showings aren't as frequent as some bigger cinemas but you can always see the most recent movies & they're reasonably priced. The cinema itself is quite comfortable & is well located in the centre of the town. Even though it is above the library they have a lift for those who can't go up the stairs. We enjoyed our time here.Written 28 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DW@BallaratBallarat, Australia1,244 contributionsWe were lucky to be in Hamilton when this combination of craft and farmer's market was on. Entry is by a gold coin donation. The setting is a mix of stalls located in buildings as well as the many marquees outside. The stalls offer home made produce that range from pies and pasties, cakes, biscuits, slices to hand made scarfs, clothes and cards. Their are also rides and activities for the children. the produce prices were very reasonable and the food quality impressive.Written 21 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnnePeggyAdelaide, Australia25 contributionsNice open dinning area of this Classic looking hotel. Food was good and menu offers good selection of the expected pub meals and a children’s menu.Written 19 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
