What travellers are saying
- Jordan BarronChristchurch, New Zealand29 contributionsWould highly recommend going over to Ulva island during a stay in Stewart Island . Does not matter about the weather . Wear walking boots and take a raincoat . Amazing birds , stand and listen and you will hear and see the cutest birds . Very well maintained and looked after by dedicated DOC volunteers. Great paths and beaches . The seals were an added bonus . Lovely experience- thank you .Written 10 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David2 contributionsThe guys were amazing! We and our 4 packs were picked up by lighter from the tricky rocky beach, ferried to the main vessel and taken at fabulous speed in tough conditions to Golden Bay. This added to our great tramp from Masons Bay - and we got to the pub in time for dinner!Written 21 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - O3941GUsusankWellington, New Zealand39 contributionsThis was a family tramp that was enjoyed by all 4 of us. The scenery was beautiful, the flora and fauna amazing and the people we met along the way, friendly. The three day, two night tramp was a great "time out" from our busy lives. We met people from the USA and Australia. The accommodation was good and the hut wardens were friendly and helpful. Yes, there was a bit of mud, but that's all part of a good day's tramp. One of our group even saw a kiwi crossing the track in the middle of the day. This is a short tramp that can be achieved by anyone who enjoys walking.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TanyaH1Auckland, New Zealand65 contributionsGreat way to spend some time learning more about local area history. Covers some pre European Māori elements. Most is post European settlement. Lovely building and a good way to spend a couple of hours.Written 26 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If hiking, definitely come and hire a locator beacon. Reasonable prices for what they can do for you.
A good display as well with some local history, but don’t skip the Rakiura Museum next door.Written 18 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
