Crazy how up close you get to see ‘famous’ animals like lions, giraffes, tigers and more (right up to your car window). Also very nice and cute sea lion show.

Neither well advertised nor signposted and thus pleasantly quiet, these are fascinating and well presented remains of what was an important trading port on the Adriatic. Excavations are ongoing so there may well be more to come in the next few years. The Acropolis portion of the site is not generally open and we regretted having missed the once-off opening for European patrimony days (third weekend of September). Masses of atefacts in the museum so be selective. The new subsea exhibit would be great for children.

A park full of wonder, beautiful and so peaceful startling my curiosity for the time from VI to XIV century. I truly loved the virtual tour of the church, I have never experienced anything like it before. Very old traces of human life opening new thoughts and giving insight containing the misteries of Religion, Archeology, Painting and more. The virtual tour is a new additional, and very recently created.

Fascinating couple of hours, both inside the museum and outside amongst the ruins. My husband and I were in the area for our niece's wedding. We were very glad we visited the Museo Archeologico di Egnazia. Price of admission was 6 Euros each. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We drove in the back way so, at first, it was hard to find the parking lot.

The animal drive-through was amazing. Take plenty of carrots and lettuce to feed them! Take smaller food like raisins and peanuts to feed the monkeys in the pedestrian zoo. The rides are paid individually and low scale compared to late theme parks but may be enjoyed by some.

Start up on Viale Minareato in Selva di fasano and 400 m altitude and you have a fantastic view of the valley Canale di Pirro. It is full of vineyards and orchards and the beautiful colors of the seasons. You can drive thorough the valley either from the Alberobello/Monopoli side or from Laareto on SP 1

We had problems trying to find what hours the park was open (in fact, we thought it closed at 12.30 but on the Friday we did visit, we were told that it was open until the evening!), and it was all too easy to drive past the turn-off from the main road, but it was well worth the effort to get there. The museum far exceeded my expectations, with some terrific items on display, and with the displays divided up into different stages of the city's history; the great majority of the information boards are in Italian, but there are some in English. There is an interesting introductory film (probably best viewed before touring the site) and an imaginative presentation of relics from the sea, downstairs.

The park itself is extensive, and it took us a couple of hours to walk round it. Various information boards help to explain what can be seen. Unfortunately, the acropolis was closed for works, although we were told it might be open the next day....

There is little shade out on the site, so wear a hat and sunscreen!
