What travellers are saying
- BrendaExplorer33 contributionsThe Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary was a pleasurable way to spend a couple of hours. Well sign-posted, it was easy to find. There was ample free parking and free admission. We happened to go on a day when there was a tabletop and jumble sale (see their website calendar for future events), which was large and well organised--well worth the 50p donation to browse. Inside the jumble sale there was a cafe and seating. Staff and sellers were friendly and helpful.
Back outside, we visited the many donkeys who call this home. There is a paved walkway through the shelters and fenced outdoor spaces where the donkeys roam about. Both areas were very well kept. In case you are wondering, there is minimal smell. The animals appear quite clean, and the feed appears fresh. Staff clean up the inevitable piles left by the donkeys, all well within the fenced in areas. The visitor toilets are also clean and spacious. While the visitor areas are generally paved, though, there are a few grass/dirt/mud patches. Wear sensible outdoor shoes.
The key attraction is the fabulous experience of getting up-close and personal with the many donkeys (and a couple of goats!). The animals are friendly, but not aggressive. Petting is permitted, though feeding is not. There is a playground for small children, an additional tea and snack service and a lovely gift shop. There are signs on display offering some historical information and donkey biographies. Staff are very knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. Overall, a delightful day!Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Terry SFareham, UK178 contributionsArranged to meet here as a convenient location between Portsmouth and Norwich. We did not know about the murder mystery event taking place. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The actors of the murder mystery were really good. We all enjoyed the event.Written 10 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Adventurers049Brisbane, Australia3,393 contributionsThis is a dinky little museum and is manned by volunteers.
There are so many excellent little displays set over a couple of floors.

- Caroline TFarnham, UK51 contributionsA small church but with exquisite detail in the pre-reformation brasses, stone carvings, alabaster effigy of Chaucer's granddaughter, beautiful detail carving in an enormous font cover. Apparently a local grandee stopped Henry VIII's thugs destroying what was in the church - lucky for us! Well worth visiting even though it is out of the way. There are pretty almshouses attached around whose courtyards you can wander. Visit the Village shop and tea rooms nearby for a good range of cakes with your tea/coffee.Written 30 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JofgnDidcot, UK9 contributionsWe arrived to a very enthusiastic welcome despite the rain. Normally a one hour group tour we had Zoe all to ourselves.
A short walk around the vines with comnentary from Zoe. She's super knowledgeable, not only about wine making but the history of it and how it came to be. The facts about the Geology of the land was fascinating.
We then did some wine tasting in the fermenting/crushing/labelling/shop shed (the magic happens in one big room). The dogs Roger Hiro and Charlie were very friendly and added to the warm homely experience. We were very happy with our visit.Written 30 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - helenhk7Southampton, UK2 contributionsI never realised that axe throwing could be so much fun! From arrival to departure the whole experience was excellent. After a warm welcome and a clear safety introduction we were straight into the throwing. Our coach Harry was excellent. His enthusiasm, humour and individual approach to coaching was so helpful at improving our technique and making the session enjoyable. We will definitely return for another go.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- therichastillStevenage, UK2,719 contributionsThe River Thames goes through Wallingford and there is a bridge you can use to cross the river. This was constructed a long time ago and was back in a time when there was not the same level of transport there is in the 21st Century. As a result it is quite narrow to cross so there is a one way system in operation with traffic lights controlling the direction of traffic.
The bridge has some very nice views of the surrounding area and if you are on foot I would suggest taking a couple of minutes to admire the scenery.
The location listed on tripadvisor is not correct however it is only a 10 minute walk further down the road. Cheers Google!Written 9 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
