What travellers are saying
- IrinaVadimChicago, IL9 contributionsThe views were great. It was snowing so kids played with the snow. Unfortunately kitchen at the cafe closes at 5:30 and there is a very small selection of readily available food.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deepali15 contributionsThe view was amazing with the fall colors. It is definitely a worthy trip to go and enjoy nature at its purest form.Written 26 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JRinTX7120 contributionsTraditional style history museum. The content is very good if you get the English guidebook and follow along. I most enjoyed the section on Fridtjof Nansen and the Fram "drift" attempt at the north pole. They should add some of Nansen's amazing diplomatic / humanitarian history too. Roald Amundsen section was good as well but almost too detailed and didn't cover some of the controversial subjects - not unexpected in his home country. The books on sale at the museum can fill in details if you want further reading.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PeterEast Leake, UK9 contributionsThe museum came highly rated to visit, and for most of the exhibition it was quite informative.
A bit of a mix between geology and history which was not expected.
However we spent about 3.5 hours in the museum, and the staff were quite helpful.Written 15 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. No luck with such cloudy skies but we appreciated the serenity of the place, and the fact that they have benches to sit on, especially that Aurora chasing can take hours and the ground is icy wet.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hjo_HostelBjorke, Norway12 contributionsWe were there on a tour with The Green Adventure, really beautiful place and nice beach. - paulCambridgeshire, UK25 contributionsIt was a cold, windy and snowy January day and Polaria is just a 5 minute walk from the main Tromso hotels. It was well worth taking a look: well-run and friendly with a good mix of aquatic life, educational information and audio-visual presentations. A highlight was the massive, high resolution audiovisual theatre, running a range of nature titles through the day - worth the entrance fee alone. The aquariums were diverse and captivating. The resident seals seemed healthy and happy and are to benefit from a much enlarged enclosure in the next 2 years. We will return in the future, when a 5 star review will be very likely.Written 4 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LK LeungHong Kong, China5 contributionsVery lucky to have visited on a sunny day. About 1 hour drive + ferry ride from Tromso. It offers epic views on a clear day, and much less crowded than the city. Snowmobiling tour or skiing tour with guide strongly recommended, as the best scenic areas are off-road. It is also worth to spend more days in the area for exploring on foot. Do note that weather can change rapidly or deteriorates quickly on any day, so always check the weather and avalanche forecast before heading out.Written 14 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - casswifeDunfermline, UK1,567 contributionsLocated in a very modern building which also houses the Hurtigruten booking offices etc and a lovely cafe. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and helped us with our decisions of what to see and do in our 5 short days in Tromso.Written 5 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kellyBacup, UK3 contributionsHad the most fun at this science centre with my boyfriend. The exhibits are great for kids and adults who are young at heart. We had a lot of time to explore the activities with very few other people around and then enjoyed the magical show at the planetarium which explained all about the Northern Lights and gave us a pretend experience incase we didn’t see them in person.Written 25 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
