Beautiful trekking and easy one at Gargano National park. It was 4,5km starting at Vignanotica’s camping and finishing it at Mergoli. Beautiful view of the sea!

Now restored as Baroque cathedral, initially constructed in 1170s as Romanesque church , latter damaged by earthquake. The church contains an ancient icon of the Virgin Mary. The interior is not stunning but still interesting. The cathedral is said to be the main Foggia atraction.

My family originate and still reside in Foggia and the surrounding area. I go there almost every year for the last 40 years. One place I go to is this gem of peace and tranquility. If your religious definitely a place to go, if your not well still go just for the experience as it really is a beautiful place and there are picnic areas for the whole family as well as stalls to buy souvenirs and food and drink. I'm not heavily religious but I do leave here everytime feeling calm and relaxed. This is the Italian version of Lourdes in France. Give it a visit you at be surprised

It was amazing to be able to see St. Padre Pio’s body and to pray for his intercession, however the new Church is very disappointing. It is very cavernous, noisy and this makes it hard to pray. I wish I could understand why architects can’t structure Churches as they were before, cruciform and elevating to the heart and mind. The two other Churches where Padre Pio actually used to say Mass are beautiful. We will definitely return, hopefully next year, but the new Church remains a disappointment.

This theater dedicated to the native son Umbero Giordano, has a rather plain facade. It has 3 arches on the ground floor and 3 corresponding windows on the 1st floor. It was not open when we visited so I cannot comment on the interior or acoustics.
The playbill showed that performances of Dracula were being presented.

In this piazza you will find plenty of resting area but with unfortunately no possibility to have a drink. Comemmorative place to the in Foggia born music composer with some weird looking statues.

Have never seen anything like this before. Although the church itself was closed, the real interest lies on the approach. A massive gateway frames the path up to the entrance - and en route visitors pass through four miniature domed chapels, Very special

The stunning entrance to Parco Urbano Karol Wojtyla is a magnificent, columned portico. The colonnaded entry is preceded by the Fontana del Sele in the Piazza Cavour. Inaugurated in 1924, the fountain is the oldest in the city and became the symbol of Foggia. Parco Urbano Karol Wojtyla, named after Pope John Paul II, provided a great change of pace from the bustling streets of Foggia. This beautifully landscaped and well-maintained park, with its promenade and multiple water features, was a wonderful large open welcoming space in the middle of the city. However, with the exception of a number of dog walkers, there were surprisingly few others enjoying the place. Perhaps because it was just Noon, more people would frequent later in the day.

The staff in this intimate museum were fantastic. We had a guided tour of the atrium to see its Daunia material and find out about Arpi a nearby city that preceded Rome. The exhibitions include pottery, jewellery and 19th and 20th century paintings. It also features a room that recreates a typical house in the early 20th century based on a home in a nearby Gargano town.Every effort was given to help us understand the exhibits, even using a translating device on a phone. There was a function going on and also a visit by a group of schoolchildren so although small the museum seems appreciated. The entrance fee of 5 euros is good value and it is free for over 65s.
