It is a nice and impressive building, it seems that nowadays the university of Gijon has some faculties there. We saw some students preparing events. It is a nice stop if you have a car or have extra time in Gijon, however the best attractions of the city remain for me the viewing points and the beach.

Great city beach with a busy promonade. Some nice waves and the lifeguards were attentively asking people to stay within the guarded zone.

Nice park area with walking trails. History, scenic city vistas, nice access to old district. Good place for the kids and mascots or both to run free and play. For all the history take a guide.

We spent two hours on a rainy day here. Very nice effort, and a good value for 13 EUROS. (Compare with 28 USD at the Boston aquarium). Good exhibits, well kept and clean. Signs in English and Spanish.

Be advised that there is no easy parking close by. We parked in an uncovered, unpaved lot and walked about 6 blocks.

Comment: There is much educational material about pollution in the ocean, especially regarding discarded plastics. It is ironic, therefore that the gift shop has almost exclusively small crappy plastic toys and tourist mementos that will be broken immediately and discarded. Where? Please be more considerate when considering what to sell on your own premises.

Comment: Although we didn’t eat at the restaurant on the top floor, we went up and looked around. Nice balcony seating. Food smelled good, and for once it wasn’t the usual hot dogs and hamburgers. There was hot Spanish paella, for goodness sake, and the diners looked happy. Consider yourselves lucky, aquarium goers.

Really nice, large and well maintainedbotanical gardens showing much of the rich local flora within a historical garden. The green has many different smaller gardens in it. We can only imagine how it looks when the streams and ponds are full with water (there seems to be a drought in Asturia during our visit as also other ponds were dry)

I was lucky the weather was so hot and sunny for early October. The view of the Barrio from the beach area was idyllic. There was furthermore stunning vistas around the Barrio to eat and drink. Highly recommended!

We like this sculpture very much. You can read the tristess in the face of the lady. The sculpture has a nice place on the boulevard reaching to the sea.

Located next to the Church de San Pedro, old Gijón. You may have to ask since entrance is underground. Free of charge, but nicely presented, good bathrooms in site.

Nice, small, lovingly maintained collection showcasing regional rail history. Well-curated artifacts support the narrative explaining history of trains in the area, why it's important to Spain overall, and innovations leading to present day. Sadly there is no English anywhere aside from new placards for each of eight train cars. Every other placard and artifact caption is Spanish-only; no hardcopy or audio guides available. Placards and captions are often set deeply in exhibit cases making translation tools difficult to use. Many wonderfully crafted models but tough to know what you're looking at and why it's relevant. Admission is free, but I'd rather pay and have those funds go toward English translations that this story might be accessible to foreigners.

I started by just continuing the beach boardwalk from San Lorenzo beach in Gijon. At Rinconin the path narrows a bit but is paved the entire way to La Nora beach. Great coastal views and some forest as you get closer to La Nora.

There’s a bar/restaurant at La Nora beach. The beach there was strong surf and not possible to swim the day I was there.

The only downside for me is that I preferred to bus back to the city and it was a 25-30 minute walk to a stop for the L14 bus. Research in advance and maybe there’s a closer stop. Some people who biked complained of the hills which are maybe less formidable on foot but still substantial.

We visited Museo Evaristo Valle in Gijón primarily for the sculpture garden. It was inspirational. We saw works by Joaquín Camin, Amador Rodriguez and many others. We also learnt how important Evaristo Valle was for the start of modern painting in Spain.
