Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our tour guides were Mauricio and Gravyn (I might be misspelling his name) . They started on time and were great with our kids . It was a group of 7 people. Didn't feel rushed, and we had a great fun time. Go for it!

The cloudforest is a wonderful place to visit if you're a nature lover. Sightings are not really guaranteed since the forest is quite dense. But we got lucky and saw a family of coatis, spider monkeys, agouti, a peccary and even the beautiful quetzal.

Our guide was pretty knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting info on everything within the cloudforest ecosystem.
    I'd definitely recommend this tour.

Really worthwhile trip. Picked up on time at 0730, taken to the location which had quite a large and modern visitor centre and restaurant. After being briefed on the route we left by ourselves at 0830 to walk it at our own pace and stopped when we wanted to take photos and get into the waterfalls. We are quite young and quick and it took us 3 hours, so had an hour to enjoy lunch with a bottle of wine before pick up at 1230. We took the horses back up the ravine which were well kept and gentle. A guide accompanies you on the horse ride.
Its quite shady in the ravine but still warm. I walked in trainers and swim shorts, just took trainers off to swim. Took a tshirt and walking trousers to change into for the horse ride but this isnt necessary. Lots of beautiful photo opportunities and plenty of wildlife. Glad we chose this experience.
    Couple in 30s.

Fun, interactive, and informative! The tour takes about two hours and you are able to learn all about chocolate, coffee, and sugar cane, with plenty of samples throughout. Our guide Kaitlyn, was funny and delightful, and gave us a “private” tour for our family and we were all able to participate in making chocolate, coffee, and a sugar cane drink.

The tour facility is well done, obviously built for tourists, but worth doing. Recommend making a reservation through your hotel. Ours was able to get us spots on a tour that appeared sold out online.

After the tour, sample a variety of chocolates and all the coffee and hot chocolate you like. Highly recommend this tour.

Incredible experience, highly recommended. Our tour guide Olmon was a whiz at spotting wildlife (in the dark!), was super knowledgeable, and made us feel very safe.

Our family of 8 adults loved this adventure. The zipline was a blast and the Hanging bridges were so beautiful. It was a rainy afternoon for the bridges, but nothing a poncho couldn't handle. I do suggest a guide, which if you book with Native's Way, you will receive. We were shuttled from Tamarindo and it was 3 hours, but the guide broke it up nicely on the way with a stop at a local bakery for cafe and sweets. The ride home was bit lengthy due to traffic on Liberia which added 2 hours to the total return. Pura Vida!

As a family of 6 + 2 other guests - Dennis was patient (particularly with my truculent 13yo) and thorough in trying to find unique views and “nature” for us to experience. He was also educational enough that my 17yo said, “Dad - this is really cool!” Thanks for a great time and discussion Dennis!

I got a recommendation for the Guide Jean. The night before the natural history tour I was on a nighttour with him and it was amazing! So I decided to also go on a natural history tour together with my girlfriend.

We really and absolutely enjoyed it. Jean definitely knows what he is talking about and gave us a lot of interesting facts about different animals. He gave us interesting insights about the monteverde history and the flora in the national park. We have seen some interesting animals. As an animal is spotted, Jean directly knows what to do, he gets the perfect angle and makes great pictures. He is very enthusiastic about what he is doing and makes it with a lot of passion. You feel that. Besides the great tour itself we laughed a lot and had a great time with a charismatic and nice person. Try it out, you won't regret it!

Deyber was a great guide! Highly recommended! We saw a toucan, its nest, hummingbirds, quetzal, peccary, agouti, a leaf stick insect etc. All would have been absolutely impossible to spot on our own. Our guide really had a very good eye for finding these things, setting up the scope to see them and telling us a lot of background information about the animals, birds and forest. Even managed to get some great pictures from his scope!

This tour was unique and by it's very nature is a tough to deliver. Our guide did a good job and was actively looking for things to show us. We saw sleeping birds (tucans ), frogs, snakes, and bioluminescent fungi among other things. Over all was a unique experience. My main take away was that I'd never go into the jungle alone at night.

As someone afraid of heights, I was nervous about this, but I came out of it ready for more! The hanging bridges are high up, a little bouncy, but felt very safe. The views are just amazing. Our guide pointed out as much flora and fauna he could find, and it was both beautiful and educational. The tram up was short, and I was really just trying to mentally prepare for my first zipline experience. Our team with Elkin and Diego were amazing. They gave a thorough safety demonstration, and were all business (no joking around or messing with you) which I really appreciated. Flying through an actual cloud was a surreal experience. It's fast, you get wet, and what a rush! I actually feel like it ended too quickly. After my rappel experience at the end, I was feeling confident enough to sign up for a waterfall rappelling excursion in Arenal - amazing.

My family of four (two teenage boys) went with Thanos who had 20+ years experience as a guide. We had him as a guide for the Monteverde cloud forest, night walk and then requested him again for a private Curicancha tour. We told him we would like to see the Quetzals and we wind up seeing 1 with him at Monteverde national park and at our Curicancha tour two days later we saw 7 (yes seven!) which included a picture of the mother and baby on a branch. His knowledge of the flora is impressive as he taught us about epiphytes and how the different trees attract different animals.

We saw in the three tours: two sloths, multiple agouti, coatis, 2howler monkeys, a family of spider monkeys, 2 Capuchin monkeys, one keeling toucan, multiple green emerald toucanettes, a tarantula, a crop of glass frog eggs (his (scope lens showed us the tadpoles moving in the eggs!) and numerous hummingbirds, glass butterfly and morpho butterflies.
