Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love this place. It’s beautiful and it’s interesting. This is a world class kayaking course- has even hosted Pan American competition.

There is a trail along the river which can be a bit steep in places. Picnic tables offer a view of the rapids and the walk through the forest is lovely.
Kayakers will engage in conversation as they are bringing their boats back up the roadway to begin another run. Watching them manoeuvre through the crystal clean water and roiling rapids is just so much fun!

Good spot for a walk. We usually go to the far side as less traffic and rarely cross over for a full lap. Our dog usually takes a dip in the river and we have a lovely walk as he dries off.

We like to visit here a few times a year in all seasons. But the view is at it's absolute BEST when the fall colours are at their prime. We walk the circle and see the falling of the leaves... it's like it's 'snowing' leaves... In the spring the trilliums carpet the hillside. There are a couple picnic tables, so we bring our Tim's and enjoy the view. It's open from May 1to Oct.31.

I loved my first visit to this park, such a different landscape. Who knew there were so many different types of fungi..! Took lots of pictures to bore people with, but it was really interesting to see.

We recently moved to the area so thought it would make sense to learn about the history of our new home. The village itself had a good variety of buildings, bank, church, homestead, etc. that exemplified life here 150 plus years ago. There were some attendants dressed in period costumes. The welcome center also presented the current ecological state of the county. No admission fee, but donations accepted.

We visited during the Annual Studio tour. Tom Green creates wonderful pieces of stained glass in sizes from small Christmas tree ornaments to window panes. His studio is in his home which is an old school. He and his family also make and sell maple syrup, honey and jams.

Profits go towards his admirable mentoring program for youngsters one of whom was making garlic bread in an outdoor wood burning oven. They also offered tarts for a donation! New this year was a mural on the side of the house

This is one of my favourite stops on the tour!

I love the variety of fairways, the friendly staff and the general layout of the course. The views are absolutely beautiful when the leaves change. Highly recommended.

This falls is nicely tucked away from a regional road and hence secluded from most traffic and foot fall. There are a few spot for cars (4 max) while one is closet to the falls. The approach to the water is not steep and the rocks provide several spots to view/sit. This falls does not appear to be suitable for a swim though.

We stumbled upon this while driving backroads South of Haliburton. Gelert has some local history and is an accredited ghost town.
Norms sells smoked local meat, game and fish. Tried so0me wonderful Kabanossi smoked sausage. OUT OF THIS WORLD good!
The barn is filled with great antique knickknacks if you are looking. A nice drive also.

I think this is a great find in the middle of what I previously thought was mostly cottage country. I'm very impressed about the variety of artists who come up here to showcase their talents and causes. Definitely worth checking out the schedule on their website to see what is coming up.

The trails were mostly flat and there was a large variety of different types of trees. There was also the remains of a homestead so you can picture how it was many years ago. There are 7 trails/loops that can be taken, some of which are near the river. We went in early December when fresh snow had just fallen. We did 6.2 km that day. The Forest is conserved by the Haliburton Land Trust...signage is plentiful, trails well marked and maps available at the entrance.
