Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Beer TravellerNovo Mesto, Slovenia527 contributionsLocated not farm from the main North road out of Auckland, about 10 km from it - last 5 km is a gravel road, but nothing an ordinary sedan car couldn't easily do. Larger parking place with toilets (though not that clean). Easy access to the caves. Once inside, easy walking to the first place with glow worms - you do have to waddle through ankle deep water or balance yourself on the rocks. Take a torch with you, but do turn it off once in the area where glow worms are - hoepfully others will turn them off too, so you can experience a stary ceiling. Maybe not as many worms as elsewhere, but it's free and easy to get there, so definitely would recommend.Written 11 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nick S1 contributionAmazing experience. The team looked after us so well and we are so grateful. We had a great night in our caravan the facilities were good and the glow worm tour was well worth it. We learnt a lot from our guide Ross and had loved the tour. - Passport044830549583 contributionsAn easy going DOC campsite where you just walk over the dunes to the beach. Some campsites are uneven but plenty of space. DOC toilets and showers available. A great spot if you want to camp at the beach.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GeneralShamuNew York City, NY1,275 contributionsWent with a baby in a carrier and it was a perfect hike in this regard. The trail is 20-30 minutes round trip and easily doable with a baby carrier. Note that the road to get here is gravel and quite windy, ergo expect to go slow to avoid car sickness, slipping, etc…
No toilets located on site nor is there a place for garbage.Written 11 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. When searching for NZ farm stay, Kandish Alpaca farm stay was among the search results. A few farm stay appears commercialized. And the idea of interacting with alpacas was appealing to us. Are we glad we chose Kandish Alpaca farm stay!! Mark and Pav are fantastic and friendly hosts. We got to know the various trees, shrubs that are unique to NZ. And we got to understand the 2 types of alpacas and the ones on the farm are the Suri ones. We got to feed them. We are free to roam and interact with the alpacas and wander around the farm. The accommodation is super cozy. We stayed for 2 nights only and would have stay longer if our time permits. This farm stay is a great way to slow down and relax, enjoying what nature and alpacas have to offer. We thorough enjoyed our stay here, away from the hustle and bustle of city life and touristy areas! I do highly recommend this!Written 1 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kaylie BNapier, New Zealand53 contributionsGood level of fitness required. We didnt see glow worms as you have to walk quite deep into the caves through some water to see. We have a 6 year old with us and just enjoyed walking and looking around the caves. Quite a drive out of the way but worth it.Written 27 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
