So pretty! Lots of foot traffic so we felt very safe but that could be a negative, depending on how you view it. Definitely need a torch, phone torch won’t do much… would recommend aqua shoes as there’s thigh deep water and some parts you can’t see what’s at the bottom plus it’s very slippery and muddy upon the entrance. Overall a really enjoyable experience :)

We decided on this farm stay versus travelling to Wellington. When searching for NZ farm stay, Kandish Alpaca farm stay was among the search results. A few farm stay appears commercialized. And the idea of interacting with alpacas was appealing to us. Are we glad we chose Kandish Alpaca farm stay!! Mark and Pav are fantastic and friendly hosts. We got to know the various trees, shrubs that are unique to NZ. And we got to understand the 2 types of alpacas and the ones on the farm are the Suri ones. We got to feed them. We are free to roam and interact with the alpacas and wander around the farm. The accommodation is super cozy. We stayed for 2 nights only and would have stay longer if our time permits. This farm stay is a great way to slow down and relax, enjoying what nature and alpacas have to offer. We thorough enjoyed our stay here, away from the hustle and bustle of city life and touristy areas! I do highly recommend this!

Really enjoyed this museum. It was so interesting to learn of the Scottish settlers to Waipu. Cheap to get in - $10 per adult. Lovely shop with reasonable pricing. Really enjoyed it

An easy going DOC campsite where you just walk over the dunes to the beach. Some campsites are uneven but plenty of space. DOC toilets and showers available. A great spot if you want to camp at the beach.

To get her you drive on an unsealed road so keep your speed down. We nearly missed it and only saw the sign after seeing two car parked by side of road - not really a car park. Good steep walk down and on a beautiful track which we thoroughly enjoyed. ( Takes about 10 mins) At the bottom is a concrete walkway then onto the spectacular falls. Children were swimming and having three distinct pools, swimming is safe. For us the water was very cool but coming from the desert, it was like the coolness of our waterholes. This is a real must and it is free for everyone to enjoy. There are no toilets so be aware of this. Happy trekking.

A must visit. A 3 km cave not overrun by tourists. Came late afternoon and we’re still entertained by the owner himself. Very impressive and educational. Best is to spend there two days. They have a camp and campervan ground.

This is very beautiful scene and track but it needs a bit hard effort to start. Either you from south or from north, if from north - the Waipu Cove beach side, you need to cross small stream and wet feet first before climb a small but very steep hill to reach the track. Then the remaining track would be easy and give you the best views as the reward. The pancake shape rocks, big rocks, medium rocks, in every unusual unique shapes will be encountered along the track. Moreover the ocean and beach below will add the spectacular horizon views. Better to take the visit in the summer time, while on winter, the track could be slippery.

5 stars. My kids (9 and 11) were a bit reluctant and apprehensive as they’d never surfed before but loved every minute and begged to go back and hire boards the next day! Staff were great. I’d highly recommend.
