Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- wherewego.cityhideoutZagreb, Croatia1,517 contributionsThere are a lot of small undiscovered beautiful places in the Parco regional worth of visit. So if you love nature spend even a few days in exploring everything that park offer. We did not have so much time, we have only one day unfortunatelyWritten 24 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FTMDaveAdria, Italy7,677 contributionsMagnificent medieval walls of the castle, with the town gardens inside, so wonderful in summer. Free to enter. Snack bar. Small car park (you have to pay, but it's not much).Written 23 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lnwydAberdeen, MD514 contributionsWe headed into Este for the third time, looking forward to the Museo Nationale Atestino and another visit to Vanilla-Chocolate, the best gelateria we have found in the Veneto. The museum, in the Palazzo Mocenigo and tucked into the medieval walls that surround the park and gardens is just the right size for learning about human habitation in that area from the paleolithic forward. There signage is almost entirely in Italian, but panels in holders on the walls of each gallery offer summaries in English (German and French). They help quite a bit. The woman at the desk said to start in room I and follow them in order--and the numbering is obvious and easy to see--and we did.
So Este was first populated by Neanderthals! I didn't know that. And following the timeline, it was marvelous to see the advances in technologies: weapons, sewing needles, pots. As organized death rituals became a think in later periods, there were excellent clusters of grave goods, some in arrangements. Almost self-explanatory.
The Roman era is followed by a handful--but a lovely handful--of pottery, bronzes and marble fragments from the Renaissance.
We had just been at the Eremetani Museum in Padua where similar objects were shown in much greater numbers, in more elegant surroundings, but frankly with not as much clarity. The curatorial perspective there was a concentration on sites. If you--like us--don't have a terrific grasp of local and larger Italian geography, then it seemed redundant. And the Eremetani doesn't provide nearly any support materials in English.
The great treat to be had is the little balcony terrace on the second floor overlooking the center of town but also with a view out over the garden. At that moment the sun was shining and a sweet breeze made it perfect. The terrace is worth the price of entry alone!Written 5 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Blossom SArzignano, Italy799 contributionsNear the square with food fair when I'm visiting. And a lot of bar a long the way to the Torre Civica. Sitting in the bar and watching the Porta Vecchia with a perfect spring weather what a beautiful afternoonWritten 10 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas OzbunVicenza, Italy982 contributionsDocuments date it to the 11th century, though it probably dates way before that, during the Lombard period. It is the oldest church in town that has a peculiar leaning bell tower.Written 9 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eugenio Trevisan49 contributionsIt's the most important archaeological site related to the ancient civilization of north-east Italy (Venetic), that in Este founded their first stable settlement. The foundation of the necropolis dates back to the Bronze Age (VIII-VII century BC) and its funerary destination has been active for many centuries.
The archaeologists discovered more than 150 tombs. So we know that this cemetery area was in use from the 8th (Iron Age) to the 2nd century BC (Romanization phase) without interruption.
The famous funeral urn "Situla Benvenuti" and the monumental sarcophagus of "Nerka Trostiaia" (III century BC) were discovered in this main nucleus of the northern Atestine necropolises!
The funerary structures are mainly composed of limestone box tombs of the Euganean Hills, trachyte cippus, stone circles, mounds bordered by slabs of trachyte.
The funerary area was outside the built-up area and separated by a stream flowing into the ancient Adige river.
One of the salient features of this multilevel cemetery is the high density of the burials (superimposed and close together). The prevailing funeral rite is cremation of the deceased. The burnt bones and other personal objects and ornaments were placed in the ossuary vase.Written 7 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
