Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The information centre has some very informative displays for the Kea, Kiwi and predators in the area. They also had a nice clean bathroom area. We lucked out and saw some Keas at the Kea Kiosk which was fun to see and provided some good information about the birds. They had a lot of stamps and my wife has been collecting them lately so she was very pleased. The prices in the gift shop were also quite fair.

The Arthur Pass Information Centre is about halfway through the Arthur Pass and if you ever get the chance this is one of the best drives in the world. Very scenic and there are quite a few places to get out, sight see and hike. The information centre is located in the Arthur's Path Village and has a few conveniences in the area.

One of the best places to stop along the road between Christchurch and the South Island West Coast. Simply spectacular view and makes you appreciate the hard engineering that went into making the road itself!

Easy to access parking lot in Arthur's Pass village. The view is beautiful and a short distance to the top via a serious of well-maintained steps. It is a cardiac blast to the top. There is ample places to pause if you need to rest going up or down.

There are two routes to the summit from Arthurs Pass village - Avalanche Peak Track and Scotts Track. The latter is said to be slightly longer but less steep. Many visitors make a loop by going up one track and descending by the other. This would take 6-7 hours (depending on level of physical fitness, obviously). There is a third option - the one my group took. From the summit, descend via a long scree slope to the Crow River valley on the other side of the mountain, stay overnight in the Crow Hut or camp, and return to Klondyke Corner. This takes two days.

This walk is a serious undertaking which should be attempted only by those who are physically fit, are accustomed to walking for hours at a time and have suitable equipment (stout shoes, water bottles for at least two liters, sunscreen and so on). In places it is very steep with precipitous drops next to the track. It should not be attempted in poor visibility or in high winds. The rewards are fantastic views of Mt Rolleston, the Crow Valley, Temple Basin and more.

From the carpark, cross the bridge, stopping to admire the waterfall, and you're into the forest. Mostly pretty easy but there are some quite challenging stairs early on. Once past those though it is easy walking. Mostly quite sheltered until you get to the first boardwalk just before you cross the highway. Then carry on, detour to Bealey Chasm, and head for the Dobson memorial. This area is more exposed and, on the day i went, the rain unfortunately set in. Despite my gear, I still got wet and so didn't quite make it to the end. Not a lot of birdlife out due to weather but a few South Island robins came to see what I was up to.
Will do it again on a fine day!

Very nice chapel with great views. Unfortunately, we were the only ones present at the advertised service time. Easy-to-access and up-to-date service times would be appreciated.
