Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Kirsten L4 contributionsWe had a wonderful experience with our group of forty when we visited back in November last year. Our group were a mixture of abilities in regards to mobility but everyone was able to enjoy the centre as there were a variety of things to view inside as well as the tracks outside. The favourite by far were the eels. Staff were wonderful and having a cafe made it a great stop.Written 18 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ezra710Christchurch, New Zealand1,402 contributionsIt's always a feature of a visit to Masterton to walk some of the Lake Henley circuit. Well formed paths are suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Lots of ducks to watch out for. Very peaceful.Written 9 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cpcogSydney, Australia1,337 contributionsThe boats rental would only opened when the weather is suitable. So, better check before going. We went there on Boxing Day after heavy rain. Sad to say nothing was opened although the rain stopped. We went again on New Year Eve and finally we could experience the double kayak!
My daughter loves kayaking very much and wants to do it with me. Queen Elizabeth Park Boats allowed us to kayak together. It was $17 for 2 people. (20 minutes) The duration is long enough for us to have the "journey" around the lake once.
The staff was so nice. He helped us from choosing the life jacket to collect everything back.
It was nice to kayak there with the ducks and other boats. Other than kayak, you can ride different boats or swan peddle craft. Great for family, lovers or friends. you can also wave your hands to the passengers riding on the mini train!
The lake has quite a lot of seaweed. Just be careful about them.
We enjoyed the time there!
We can use card to pay for the boat rental but you must have cash for the mini train ride.Written 3 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael AManawatu-Wanganui Region, New Zealand4 contributionsGreat museum, Not big in size but did not disappoint. Staff were very friendly and reasonable entry fee. - MichaelJG90277Greater Wellington, New Zealand39 contributionsI recently went up Mount Holdsworth near Masterton New Zealand. I did the Holdsworth track up and down, not taking the Jumbo circuit route. It took us 8 hours and 45 minutes which is faster than the guide book. We took the Gentle Annie track up to Mountain House. This is the easy section, from there once you cross a level saddle the track gets steep and challenging. If you are not reasonably fit don't even try. It is many years since I last went up Holdsworth and DoC has installed many wooden stair cases. I am not sure I like these as the step spacing was sometimes awkward but in some areas they make for safer climbing. It is a strenuous climb up to Powell Hut (under reconstruction and looking excellent) before you rise above the bush line and on to a rocky tussock covered exposed ridge. In windy, wet or snowy conditions this last half kilometre to the summit could be very dangerous so be careful. The day we did it was a beautiful sunny day but in the past I have been driven back by snow. The summit is 1470metres (4,823 ft) and market with a trig station.Written 7 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tasman Travels145 contributionsOur first vineyard along the Wairarapa Wine Trail and it didn't disappoint. We met the lovely Kathryn who provided us with a tasting, at no cost. Johner Estate is set in an absolutely beautiful location, and well worth the trip. We tried five or six wines, which Kathryn, being easy to follow, was very informative of and she was very friendly. We made a purchase which was lovely. When we had finished the tasting Kathryn walked us out to our vehicle, chatting along the way and we met a nice chap called Martin. It was a really affectionate, down to Earth experience, with good wine. Our kind of place!Written 29 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - moonlotus18Hamilton, New Zealand2,084 contributionsWe managed to spend some time browsing through this delightful art museum and were not disappointed. The gentleman at the counter gave us a good overview of the different galleries to set us up on what to expect. We really enjoyed browsing through and savouring the different pieces from photography to paintings to 3D displays. Had a lovely time. No entry fees but donations are accepted. Would recommend.Written 22 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Neil BAuckland, New Zealand1,494 contributionsReally interesting small museum. Absolutely crammed full of stuff from old washing machines and vacuum cleaners to oil cans and radios. It’s a real trip down memory lane; we were constantly saying something like “I remember this from when I was a child” or “My Nana and Grandad used to have one of these”!
I don’t know how many visitors they get - we didn’t see anyone else while we were there - but we’ll worth a stop if you’re driving along SH2. Only $5 but take cash - no Eft-Pos machines here.Written 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Bought some strawberries and apricots, lots of yummy local produce available. Good service! Outside is well laid out enclosure of various animals. Very welcoming for young children.
