Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing view, nice and easy walking trek with multiple options from 30min to 4 hour long. There’s plenty to look at from sheep, birds, hills, ocean, beach, small forest and even a small fall.

We went here with a family of 8 and the beach was quite occupied. Despite this everyone respected others space and we had a great time. The place is beautiful too.

Lovely beach for a morning walk when the tide is going out. You can access this from the main road and also from a walking path (that takes you away from the busy road). Great to be able to integrate this beach into a walk to the shopping centre!

We reached Gulf Harbour by walking around on the rocky shore at low tide. There are a lot of boats, but it was quiet and peaceful when we were there.

Lovely peaceful bay with great views of Auckland and the wider bay. We enjoyed the view from our holiday home. At low tide, you can walk round the shoreline to Gulf Harbour (but you have to paddle through a small river).

Pamphlets and signs advertised the New Bigger and Better market every Sunday from 10am - 2pm. Well, full marks to the pie shop, jam stall, embroidery stall, live musician and the couple of other stall operators who were there when we turned up at 10.30 am. The many other empty spaces did nothing for us. Perhaps it was just an off week but the weather was perfect and the cafe was open. Had we not had to drive a fair way to get to the alleged markets we would not be so put out. Perhaps a weekly market is too ambitious? Once a month may get more stalls and customers. In any case we will not be returning.

Very good beach on the northern side of the Whangaparaoa Penisula. It's connected to Tindalls Bay Beach (perhaps only at low tide). It seems a busy beach with lots of walkers and sailors. Great for a morning walk.

Great course for all levels of golfers. Friendly staff and members and great cafe where you can get breakfast, lunch or just a snack.

My first ever movie in New Zealand was in cinema 2, January, at Hoyts Whangaparoa, and I was just amazed over how comfortable it was. The others are great as well, and you can without any problem watch a long movie here. Service is amazing, friendly and if you have any problem with the service, just inform them and they will do what they can to fix the issue.

Great sound, great screen, good prices. I have been there heaps of times, and still have more time to go.

Hired jet skis from them three times in recent few years. It’s not the closest jet ski rental to Auckland, but the views of Whangaparaoa Peninsula from the sea are worth the extra driving time.

Communication with the owner/operator is generally straightforward and their customer service was always good. Last time they did not cancel the order and brought the jet skis even though I was the only customer on that day.

Going around Tiritiri Matangi Island without a rush would take 2hrs, but it’s a rewarding experience. One time, when riding towards the island, a pod of dolphins was leading/trailing our jet ski just a few meters away.

Jet skis are in decent condition and you can choose one out of four. When planning a fast ride with your gadgets (especially on rough water), take a jet ski with a working latch for the storage compartment and/or the floating waterproof bag, which was suggested/offered by the operator. I did not take either of them, so my phone and GPS navigator jumped out and went to the seabed.

Overall - highly recommended, looking forward to more powerful jet skis (HO engines) being offered for rentals by this operator.

Smells, ripped seats, rude staff, weird setup with dodgy pokies mixed with run down family entertainment, bring your hand sanitizer, well past it's heyday if it ever had one.
