Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- KuimiriaAWellington, New Zealand59 contributionsMataatua, the house that returned home. The story of a wharenui fit for a queen that was taken by the Govt of the time and sent in 1870 to Sydney, Melbourne, London and back to Dunedin where it was given to the Otago Museum. It was finally returned in 1996 to Ngati Awa. Needless to say the whare was in a poor condition and had to be renewed before being erected. Today we heard that story with an audio visual display, followed by a pohiri and introduction to the ancestors. We finished with a hakere of fry bread and kawakawa tea.Written 17 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jackie DWhakatāne, New Zealand73 contributionsThe scenery is amazing and it is a great walk into the township - it has lots of wide space for bikes and trikes etc... the walk takes you along the back of the township so you can stop for a nice coffee or treat on the wayWritten 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But the other facilities are rather tired.
The kitchens looked well stocked, but we didn't use it. I didn't fancy using the shower facilities either. Used our own.
The location and grounds are fab though, and great value for money. $18 each with power. - LizWeymouthWeymouth, UK60 contributionsThank you Tania and Fiona for a brilliant day out to Moutohora. Not only did we see some great wildlife but Tania s knowledge about the island and Maori names and history was brilliant. Take your swimming things as it’s a lovely beach to swim off at the end. One point take your Bushman’s as we did get a couple of mozzy bites walking through the forest track nothing serious and definitely wouldn’t put us off from going againWritten 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
