Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mataatua, the house that returned home. The story of a wharenui fit for a queen that was taken by the Govt of the time and sent in 1870 to Sydney, Melbourne, London and back to Dunedin where it was given to the Otago Museum. It was finally returned in 1996 to Ngati Awa. Needless to say the whare was in a poor condition and had to be renewed before being erected. Today we heard that story with an audio visual display, followed by a pohiri and introduction to the ancestors. We finished with a hakere of fry bread and kawakawa tea.

Was looking forward to checking out the gallery, however it isn't operating at present. Had a wonderful chat with Matariki about the gallery and her plans, will watch for further developments. Thank you

Good exhibition center with Maori and European settler artifacts as well as local arts and crafts. There is historical and geological (earthquake and volcano) information also.
It’s well displayed and has informative descriptions.
    It’s free (donations accepted).
