Each vineyard had its own unique samples and the lunch was of a very high standard. - Dave D2 contributionsWe thoroughly enjoyed the Mt Cook tour. Sonia was a great and very enthusiastic guide. We got to see a lot despite having some rain. We were prepared for the possibility from the info we had beforehand. Sonia gave the group optional ideas for the non-hikers. We heard some good stories and info about New Zealand on the way up. The ice cream stop at jacksons orchard in Cromwell was great. - Ana C1 contributionThis was a 2 part tour. Picked up at Christchurch by Hannah who was fantastic and gave lots of info, tips and good vibes. The hike was harder than expected but fun to push myself. At Mt Cook we then switched to another van (Cheeky Kea, with Grant) and from then on it felt more like a transfer than a tour - very little info given. It was all very comfortable though and I would still recommend this tour. - lisa98663Vancouver, WA17 contributionsWe had a blast with NZ Bike Trails! We rode the Lake Dunstan cycleway on e-bikes. The bikes worked great and were comfortable, Max was friendly and provided clear instructions, and he checked in with us early in the ride to make sure all was okay. The ride back to Cromwell in the van was comfortable and provided an opportunity to meet other travelers. The tour guide John was fab and his sense of humour was worthy of a standup slot at a comedy club. Three of the 4 vineyards served good to great wines, the only disappointment was Akamau which we found these wines not to our liking. - Kim T17 contributionsLoved it, an amazing track, really comfortable bikes, great service, very friendly and well looked after, we also enjoyed meeting the others who were booked at the same time as us. Such a wonderful day. We all got off saying “that was awesome”. Brilliant to take the boat back to Cromwell as well. It takes about an hour. The bike ride was easier than I thought, most people doing it Cromwell to Clyde like us so didn’t meet anyone coming the other way on the blind corners. The little pannier on the bike carrier was plenty big enough for water, snacks, spare jacket and togs and travel towel. Yes we also had a swim in the Clyde river at the end! Cold but refreshing. Stopped for coffee/tea at both Carrick Winery - gorgeous place and view, and the very cool Coffee Afloat - great cheese scone. Good to bring a windproof jacket - starting out was a little chilly. Did the whole ride in eco mode on the ebike so still had a workout up the hills, just perfect. What an adrenaline rush. Then a game of mini golf to round it off. Gary explained the route thoroughly & made sure we were happy with our bikes & their set up. 👍 He also took us down to the jetty to meet the Dunstan Explorer as we were doing the Lake Dunstan Track from Clyde to Cromwell. He made sure we were comfortable on the bikes before letting us explore the wineries of Bannockburn at our own pace. The Ebikes are great for tackling the wine hills, all the riding is on trails, the recommended vineyards are stunning, and Mark is an organized and friendly host.
