What travellers are saying
- LJL3 contributionsLoved walking around this pretty little piece of paradise. The trees are gorgeous and it's a nice stroll in the bush just a stones throw from the town centre. Really loved having a picnic here one night as well, followed by another stroll round the lake. Can be accessed from the town by a drop down and walk back up, or if you park by the reserve it's just a flat walk around the lake. Lovely!Written 10 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Debbie GAuckland, New Zealand92 contributionsOur group of 13 women loved everything about this experience. We felt very well taken care of by Rose and Emerson. The campfire, wine, cheese and crackers, the rafting up to slowly drift down the river surrounded by glow worms.....it was all such a magical experience!Written 8 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JTn79 contributionsAlways great service and a beautiful setting … good snacks and drinks - can’t go wrong!
Has an old world feel to it while being modern and comfortable. Not all the dark comers and neon lights of the modern multiplex….Written 5 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Patrick Lau1 contributionThe South Island of New Zealand contains some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and being led around by someone so experienced in the terrain as well as reading the weather (I swear that Phillip works as a part-time meteorologist) gives you the best possible opportunities to capture amazing photographs. Phillip tailors his teaching style to your abilities and he has helped me a lot to refine the way I compose an image on the field. Being able to discuss and share ideas with a professional photographer throughout the workshop was invaluable - I now have a better sense of the overall aesthetic and style that I would like to put across in my work.
This is definitely not one of those run-of-the-mill photo tours - expect to be immersed in surroundings far-flung from the beaten track, devoid of large coach buses filled with tourists. There was a day that we spent in a valley around Te-Anau and except for the passing farmers, we had the entire place to ourselves to experience and photograph.
However, going off the beaten track doesn't mean it has to be uncomfortable. Phillip has curated a list of accommodations that are comfortable, clean and spacious. There is always good food along the way and he knows where the best coffee and hot chocolate can be had.
This was my first trip with Phillip and certainly not my last. I hope to join him for other adventures in the near future.Written 13 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Philip MPeterborough, Canada1 contributionWonderful example of a significant aspect of New Zealand life. The dogs were amazing at rounding up sheep. Didn’t realize how many breeds of sheep there were.Written 10 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tom QAuckland, New Zealand380 contributionsExcellent facility for rowing, in the beautiful lake Karapiro. Enjoy the game in a nice environment.Written 30 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DixiemumWarkworth, New Zealand53 contributionsI just love this milk and the whole self service thing. I buy in bulk into my electric chilly bin. The custard we make with it is great and hubby loves milk again on his cereal. Our coffees are better than shop bought as the mills froths beautifully. I love that I can get it whenever I need and love looking at the cows as I go in - as that’s where it comes from.Written 29 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ROBYN CCambridge, New Zealand69 contributionsFor quality NZ made artisan cheeses, antipasto treats, chocolate, Duck Island icecream, gift baskets, delicious platters, and top rate service, you would be hard pushed to find anywhere in NZ that tops this wonderful shop! Cambridge is so fortunate to have such a beautiful store. We will proudly recommend Over The Moon Cambridge, & Putaruru, to our valued guests. - jyim001Auckland, New Zealand17 contributionsI have a great time on this tour. The Valais Black Nose sheep were adorable and so friendly - they are definitely the cutest sheep in the world! Andrew was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about the sheep, and I also got to meet some lovely horses around the farm. It was a bonus getting to take a slow ride on a gorgeous Vanna Gypsy horse.Written 21 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
