    Absolutely fantastic day trip.
    Highly recommended.
    Wayne is brilliant thanks!
Prompt pick up in a modern air conditioned mini van.
You will see everything in one day and be told the history of the region and the scenery is stunning in April.

On Saturday 2nd of April we did a tour with Wanaka Wine Tours and our Host for the day was John Brake.

John was an outstanding host, very humorous and highly knowledgeable about the wider Wanaka area and wineries.

Our day involved visiting 2 wineries in Wanaka - Fiona at Aitkens Folly and Letetia at Rippon (fabulous views at Rippon!) then we headed to Cromwell. A beautiful platter lunch was taken at Wooing Tree where Melissa took us through a selection of their wines.

Next up was a visit to the famous Felton Road area in Bannockburn. We went to Te Kano which has a fantastic view over the Kawarau River and the Bannockburn area. Colly looked after us at Te Kano followed by tastings with Jenny at Domain Road .

Our last winery of the day was Nanny Goat which was a superb winery and got our vote for the favourite winery of the day. Paddy at Nanny Goat didn't need to twist our arms too much to join their wine club!

Our favourite wines of the day where the 2014 Pinot Noir from Aitkens Folly, the Blondie 2021 from Wooing Tree and the Cross Breed 2019 (Gewurtztraminer/Pinot Gris/Chardonnay) from Nanny Goat.

Thanks John, Megan and Scott for a + 5 star tour.

Absolutely superb day out with Wanaka Wine Tours.

    Cheers
Tom & Jill and Brent & Sally.

My wife and I agree that this is the best wine tour we have ever done. The tastings had a personal touch to them that made you feel like we were catching up with friends while tasting great wine. Joe's relationship to the winemakers enhanced that feeling even more. Joe's knowledge of the Maori footprint dating back to the 1300's through to the 1860s goldrush was so detailed and a real pleasure to learn. We had a great time at Aitken's Folly, Wooing Tree (cheese board included) and Maori Point. My personal favourite was Aitken's Folly and Ian's wine is just magical. Thank you Joe for an amazing day and a great dinner recommendation. We have already told a number of friends and family to book when next in Wanaka!!

    Ngā mihi nui Joe!
You don't have to be only a tourist or visitor in Wanaka to enjoy the Maori Whakatau Welcome Experience. Joe is the most passionate and knowledgeable local about the Maori Culture and his ancestors.
It is a genuine experience and you will learn a lot and even more that what you would expected. He would take more than 3 hours if he could to explain you every single part of the Maori Culture. Joe has a cheeky sense of humour and during this experience, you will feel spellbinding and apart of the whānau in New Zealand.
I definitely recommend this experience to anyone coming by Wanaka.

The best thing I’ve done for myself was to book onto this tour!

Nothing can compare to what backyard roadies has done for me! Took me totally out of my comfort zone going into the tour solo (as an introvert) with a group of strangers and ending the tour with a new family!

If you book into this tour, you’re not just paying for the mint views and activities, you’ll get to experience something worth way more than money can buy 🤍

    You won’t regret it 🔥

We enjoyed a very interesting and fun filled day with Joe. We visited Aitkins Folly, Rippon and Maori Point wineries and experienced some sensational wines. The tastes were backed up by some real insights into soils and microclimate and the stories behind the people. The drive through the most incredible scenery which is found in this part of the World was not to be missed. The cultural insight provided by Joe made the whole experience.
    Highly rate this tour.

We recently used Joe from WanaHaka
To surprise our daughter and new son in law on their very special day. The wedding guests were a mix of both Kiwis and Aussies. This experience was very well received. Both bride and groom loved it. We all loved and learned so much. Joe explained every meaning/translation. Whaikorero-opening/greeting
    Wero- challenge
    Mana-spirit of person/prestige
    Kia-Kaha -stand/be strong Etc
We would highly recommend Joe for any occasion.
Thank you so much Joe for adding a breathtaking performance to this very precious day.

We will remember this for ever xo
    Respect..

A great tour winding our way up the mountain near the Cardrona ski fields and then relaxing with a drink ( in our case delicious ginger beer) at the Cardrona Pub which had beautiful grounds. Wayne relayed some of the history of the pub and then drove us down to Wanaka so we were able to view the tree before returning via time at Arrowtown. Great trip and we especially enjoyed having a look at the Millbrook estate.

Aiste was incredibly helpful when I first reached out and described what I was looking for, and asked what she thought would be the most suitable package. I ended up purchasing a full day photography tour for my brother and partner, both people who knew their way around a camera and enjoyed photography as a side hobby. To begin, choosing to gift someone an experience as special and thorough as this is the best decision you can make. To learn lifelong skills in great company whilst visiting many of New Zealand’s most beautiful spots (both tourist places and not!) is invaluable. Aiste immediately gathered information from me regarding their level of experience, and I left it up to her to plan destinations. They both came back beaming and ecstatic for days following. They took lifelong skills from it (despite thinking they knew a pretty decent amount before going in!), Aiste adapted to this and provided a high level of expertise. She not only showed them great photo spots, but taught them about framing photos, lighting, and editing, all with step by step examples and letting them try their own.
Finally, I must also mention how Aiste so kindly extended the time of their tour and was flexible regarding weather and its impact. She was under no obligation to do this and it did not go unnoticed.
What an amazing experience, and a gift that definitely keeps on giving. I could not recommend Aiste more. Thank you Aiste!
