Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Robert DBrooklyn, New York5,465 contributionsThis glacier has retreated a lot in recent years, but it is still magnificent. The path to the glacier is closed and the trail ends at a viewpoint 3 km away. When I first visited in 1985, I was able to walk right up to the glacier edge.
I took a shuttle to the car park for Franz Josef Glacier. Then I took a 20 minute walk through the forest to the glacier viewpoint. The viewpoint is 3 km./2 miles from the Franz Josef Glacier. The Waiho River is powerful and destroyed the original walking track. As a result, the trail ends about 3 km from the glacier edge. Note the twin waterfalls in the background at this point.
I walked back to the car park and then took a different walking track to Peter's Pool. Peter's Pool is a kettle lake, formed by the retreating glacier. I also took a look at the old Defiance Hut, which was moved here in 2020.
For those without a vehicle, there are frequent shuttles from the township to the car park.Written 12 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ForTheJoyOfTravelBrisbane, Australia43 contributionsWe did twin glacier overflight this morning. It was amazing and would highly recommend this company. Staff were so friendly and really helpful. And as a bonus it is a family locally owned company.
Communication was fantastic they let us know the day before that due to early morning lighting and weather there maybe a delay in our take off time. They said they would let us know at 7:45am in the morning and they did right on time.
In the end there was only a delay of an hour.
The flight was so good. The scenery is amazing and seeing both glaciers and seeing the difference between them, I'm So happy we did this flight.
So worth saving and doing extra shifts at work to splurge on this bucket list item.Written 22 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Being an avid lifelong skier, this was awe inspiring. You don't realize just how small you are until you stand on these ice fields. So cool. A must do activity. Watch the movie at the office too - well worth it.Written 20 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
