- Sam HWashington DC, DC2 contributionsThis might be the most amazing thing my wife and I have ever done. The flights to/from the glacier were stunning. Walking around the glacier was absolutely mind-blowing. The formations of the ice made it feel like you were on another planet. Everything we saw felt like the coolest thing we had ever seen. The crampons made it so easy to navigate the icy terrain. Our guide, Abbie, was fabulous, confident, and full of knowledge. We were lucky to be in a small group as well so we could move faster as a group, see more, and do more exciting things. From the start, everything the company did put us at ease. There were lots of safety measures in place and we didn’t need any of them. Going early in the winter (we were in the 8:00 group) allowed us to see the glacier in the shade and then change as the sun came up. Mia tour guide was entertaining, informative, looked after everyone and would highly recommend her. Glacier was so pretty and alien. It rained one Nd off which definitely added to the adventure and made for a fabulous rainforest /water adventure . Even though the weather was against us and we didn't get to the 3 glaciers because of cloud cover, our pilot Deon skillfully took us up to the top of the Tasman Glacier and gently nestled his chopper onto the ice. It felt so surreal to step out and walk or should I say slide our way on the ice above the clouds at the top of the glacier and this should be a 'must do' trip for anyone visiting this part of NZ. The whole flight there and back gave us the most amazing scenery. Deon was very informative with his commentary and as I was sitting beside him I was able to ask questions. It is also special that this is a family run business and the courtesy extended to their guests is above and beyond. My only suggestion is that some sort of spike or special rubber grips to slip over your shoes be provided so that you can comfortably walk on the ice. - Lovely M2 contributionsThe experience was the most memorable experience of our lives me and my fiance. The staff members and the pilot were very supportive when my boyfriend (now fiance) secretly told his plan that he would propose. They made adjustments to make it more private and the pilot captured that once-in-a-lifetime moment. They said that was the least that they could but for us, it was way more being what was expected and more personal for us!!! We are so glad that we booked the flight with the right people in it. I'm telling you guys, whoever gets to read this, book with them if you want to have a blast and great experience of your West Coast Trip!!! Our guides (from NZ and NL) were excellent and made this tour very special and super interesting for us. Again photos cannot replicate the experience. Our guide was so informed and passionate about the area. Just 5 in our chopper so plenty of room and very safe pilots! The anxiety of getting on a helicopter was all gone before we boarded. Ben, our pilot was extra courteous and made us feel extremely safe throughout.
