Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- TheQueenslanderBrisbane, Australia330 contributionsTremendous experience, if you’re curious about dams and hydroelectricity. Guided by Neil, our tour was informative and enjoyable, starting at the top of the dam, a briefing on electricity trading in the control room with Cam and a walk through a million tons of concrete, which was surprisingly cold (17°C) and slightly damp, which should not be surprising considering one is only 5m away from a lake full of water. Explanations involving models and photographs were both informative and interesting. No toilets as the prewarned. Very interesting tour.Written 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Anita D1 contributionWe had a excellente stay. 4 nights in the Bladier cottage. The cottage had a luxurious quality with a really nice bathroom. The room was clean and spacy. Combined the stay with cycling around the area and wine tasting. We had a fantastic private Tour and wine tasting at the vineyard, and we fell inn love with the Monte Christo chardonnay wine. Highly recommend this place!!Written 4 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Graham STewantin, Australia4,627 contributionsEncouraged to trip down to CLYDE by our Wanaka residing daughter & enjoy the beautiful historic township, but the diamond in all this was stumbling into EADE GALLERY. Local arts was in abundance in all mediums - & we're not talking about the usual ' small town Arts & Crafts on offer. Eade has a world class range that covers photography, ceramics, even outdoor art - well set out in their garden.
We were drawn to the distinctive ceramic teapots of MARION NEWBURN ... mini works of art with endearing personality. Very much 'conversation starters' back home in Queensland.
The town is well worth the visit alone, but EADE GALLERY is a superb excuse to select some memorable mementos of your visit to Otago.Written 24 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HMSBrisbanebrisbane79 contributionsIf cycling up the hill overlooking Clyde didn’t warm us up sufficiently, Chris‘s warm & generous welcome would have done so! In addition to the Clyde Village suite of excellent Pinot noirs, we also tasted their Rose & a Riesling from Shaky Bridge winery (same winemaker). We were served the Pinots alongside Chris’s delicious matched bites, which included her homemade preserves. Always good to be reminded of the difference food makes to the tasting/drinking experience. Thanks again Chris!Written 1 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Departure5849817 contributionsHaving done part of this trail when our kids were younger, we booked the Clyde to Middlemarch trip for my family of eight: that’s grandparents, husband and I and 4 young adult children. We did the deluxe version of the trip. So a range of fitness levels and support requirements. I booked about 6 months ahead and SBHB was really helpful answering my questions and fine tuning the itinerary so everyone’s needs were met. The itinerary was comprehensively documented and I was given a copy in a plastic bag to take with me on the trip. It had all the details re pick up times and I went back to it frequently to check stuff. The induction was clear and helpful and one of the staff had a follow up briefing with the grandparents to make sure they were comfy. The bikes were all great. One was on an e-bike - the rest were mountain bikes. As you’d expect with a multigenerational family of 8 there were a few times when things didn’t go quite to plan or we hadn’t read the instructions properly but the SBHB staff were polite, friendly and helpful. In times like these I find good humour and a bit of patience on both sides helps. It’s a busy time of year. We didn’t have problems with pick up times or luggage transfers. The accomodation was very good with plenty of common spaces for the family to hang out together. Pitchers had gorgeous food and atmosphere, fantastic pool at Kokonga lodge. Inverlair Lodge was the people’s choice for the rooms, the guest common areas and the breakfast. All places had an accessible room for the grandparents. We did the St Bathan’s tour which I recommend if you want to understand more about Central Otago's history. Vulcan Hotel and the stunning Blue Lake was a highlight. I see another reviewer mentioned the shuttle breakdown on the way from Middlemarch back to Queenstown. We were on that shuttle and as the reviewer said, we were put on another shuttle pretty quickly. Stuff happens and as we were waiting to be picked up on a beautiful day in stunning countryside I thought how lucky we were to have had our family adventure here. Thoroughly recommend.Written 1 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sundeep SBrisbane, Australia1 contributionThe bikes were great quality, the itinerary tailored to our needs, the accommodation to our preferences and everything sorted along the way. The team at bike it now were excellent even making changes to our bikes to e-bikes when the kids were tired of peddling!Written 4 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
